August 2006

SPD is my all-time favorite photography magazine and as most of you know, we were excited to have our first major article published in it earlier this year. (March) Well, the editor asked me to submit two more articles this year, one for July and one for August’s issue so if you pick up a copy of either issue, check it out!

July’s issue was co-authored with my husband, an amazing web developer who not only works with me on the side and owns his own web design company but also now works for FC Tucker in their online marketing department for the www.TalkToTucker.com website! I’m so proud of him…he & I discussed search engine optimization strategies and tracking your success with the search engines for SPD’s July article.

This month’s article was about our gift card marketing program and how to successfully utilize gift cards as a year-round marketing tool. Their entire August issue is dedicated to marketing strategies for professional photographers!

We’ve been so swamped this week working on albums and photoshopping weddings! I wanted to post this image for brides that are looking for a unique floral idea though…one of our brides from last month had her florist make floral wreaths in the shape of their initials to hang on the outside of the church doors! It made for a unique entrance and personalized their wedding perfectly.

Here are some more of my favorites! This first one is of Megan & Luke, they are getting married in October. I love her smile, it’s contagious. 🙂
Here is a pic of Sara, Nick & Indy (their adorably cute, hyper furbaby). He was so excited to be in their engagement pictures that day!
This is another one of my favorites, our last photo shoot on Sunday was for Tom & Marilyn, who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were so cute together and really enjoyed the party their family hosted for them at the Hawthorns Country Club.

We had 4 shoots yesterday, the first one was a family portrait session at the client’s home in Geist. They had a gorgeous home and 3 adorable children…twin girls and a 12 year old son. Here’s one of my favorites…I love her eyes in this shot. 🙂

This past Saturday, Leslie & Nick were married at Robert’s Park UMC and their reception was at the Rathskellar. We had so much fun, we followed them from the church to the monument (where Nick proposed to her) and then over to the canal for some downtown skyline shots with the wedding party, then off to the reception where the dance floor was packed well into the night, thanks to Jeremy from DJs Direct! She had the coolest church exit that I’ve never seen done here before…the guests shot off rolls of silver streamers as they left the church and got into the limo, it made for some really neat pictures. 🙂 Also, Jason Girt from Creative Eye Productions worked with us again this weekend, he’s so much fun and his videos are awesome, I can’t wait to see how he works his magic creating their DVD!
