December 2007

Every year, we hit the day after Christmas sale at Hobby Lobby (LOVE that place!) to restock our Christmas supplies for the next year. (Everything is at least 50% off) I don't even remember the last time I paid full price for a Christmas gift bag or wrapping paper! LOL We ended up going to Barnes & Noble, Pet Smart, Michael's, Hobby Lobby AND Bed, Bath & Beyond today in search of great after Christmas deals and to shop just for fun. 🙂 We ended up getting $1,000 worth of stuff for about $500! We found cute stuff for my sisters for their b-days (yeah, they aren't until March but that's ok…LOL) as well as tons of cute Christmas gift bags, tissue paper, bows, gift wrap and gifts for next Christmas…along with a few cool things for us. 😉

I couldn't believe it though, a lot of these stores were already stocking their shelves for VALENTINE'S day! LOL What's wrong with this world?! I bought some V-Day candy for John as a joke…I knew he'd get a good laugh out of it when we got home. I guess from the retailing perspective though, they always have to be looking ahead at the next holiday…which reminds me, anyone who wants to do boudoir sessions for Valentine's Day needs to book their sessions ASAP for January. LOL

We had SUCH an awesome Christmas this year. It was so much fun to just hang out with my entire family (pics coming soon!!) and everyone just went overboard with gifts this year. John & I received books, DVD's, software, clothes and tons of gift cards that we're looking forward to redeeming soon…especially for some dinner & a movie date nights and the "Journey for Two" massage gift card we received for Tyler Mason! 🙂

I found myself having more fun watching other people open the gifts we bought them this year though…my aunt's reaction was priceless, we made a 16×20 gallery-wrapped canvas print of her with her furbabies (greyhounds) and it was gorgeous. She started crying when she opened her gift and nearly made ME cry! LOL Then, my Grandpa bought my Grandma a laptop for Christmas (yay!! She'll be reading my blog now – hi Grandma!) and we had the funniest thing happen. We bought them a gift card for Circuit City, thinking that they could spend it on anything that didn't come with the laptop and my Grandma accidentally opened the gift card before the laptop. She looked SO confused and I couldn't think of a good reason as to why else she would need that, it was pretty funny. Once she opened the laptop, I was able to tell her what to do with the gift card. LOL We got my mom's dog, Mandy, a bag full of new toys. Her favorite dog toy is her new puppy cell phone which she's been carrying around all day apparently. How hilarious is that?! Oh, and I even found doggy OPI nail polish for her…actually, they called it "paw-lish" in a shade called "Poodle Pink" and I just couldn't resist. 🙂 We'll see if she ever sits still long enough to get her nails done. (THAT would make for a great photo shoot!) LOL She's such a princess dog…we even call her "Mandiva" sometimes! 🙂

I hope all of you had a great Christmas like we did!! We'll be updating the blog with more pics soon!

Tonight was our annual downtown family outing…every year we go for a carriage ride downtown and then stop by the Chocolate Cafe on the circle for some awesome hot chocolate! Well, we got to the Chocolate Cafe tonight and ran into Tammi & Ryan! We shot their wedding a little over a year ago (Happy Anniversary!!!) and tonight they were out celebrating Ryan's 30th b-day. 🙂 I whipped out my tiny "purse camera" for a few shots of them with their friends and apparently I had good timing. Tammi's camera battery had just died and she was out of memory! LOL I think it was meant to be. 😉 Hope you guys had fun tonight and it was great seeing you again…Happy Birthday Ryan!tammiryan.jpg

On 12/8, we photographed the annual Circle K Holiday Party…this year's event was at the Hilton downtown and it was so much fun as always! They had a Christmas themed display for us to take couples photos throughout the night, a Christmas tree filled with presents for their staff, these great thematic centerpieces to go along with the illusionist they brought in for the dinner entertainment and a great band that kept the dance floor packed well into the night! 🙂

Yum!! The Hilton catered the cocktail hour and dinner that evening…

The illusionist was awesome! He kept the crowd laughing and wondering "how did he do that?" every time he started a new trick or story…

LOL….you just had to be there….

Thanks again for a great time guys! Hope to see you again for next year's shindig! 🙂

I've been SO busy these last 2-3 weeks that I've totally neglected the blog, sorry! We had so many weddings to finish editing before Christmas though so those have to be our first priority. 😉 Coming soon though…a corporate party, 2 stunning boudoir posts, a Christmas wedding and the Holiday Bridal Show pics! Stay tuned!
