Many of you know that I’m involved in the Junior League of Indianapolis, a non-profit women’s community service organization and our annual fundraiser, Holiday Mart, is enjoyed by thousands of Indiana residents every year! Since I am on the Holiday Mart planning committee, I am able to purchase discount tickets to give away to friends, family & colleagues so I thought I’d put together a little blog reader participation contest to help increase awareness for the Junior League and for Holiday Mart!! 😉

Here’s what you need to do:

Post a link to the Junior League’s website (www.jlindy.org) AND to the Holiday Mart specific webpage (http://www.jlindy.org/content/Holidaymart.cfm) on at least FIVE Indiana-related websites, forums, blogs, etc. This could be on wedding forums, blogs about Indiana events, shopping blogs, facebook events, etc. Be creative!! Once you’ve posted both web page links on at least five sites, email me at [email protected] with your full name & mailing address and I will mail TWO FREE tickets to Holiday Mart to you! (Valued at $24)

Right now, I only have 23 more tickets to giveaway and I will only be receiving a few more at the October meeting so once they’re gone, they’re gone – and the contest will be over so the first people to do this will win! GOOD LUCK!! 🙂

We photographed Jay’s senior pics this week in downtown Carmel…my new FAVE place for senior pics!!! There are so many unique walls, textures, alleys, buildings, etc. to photograph around that area, I just LOVE it! We were supposed to do this shoot last week but the weather didn’t cooperate so we were happy to see plenty of sunshine for this week’s shoot! 🙂

Love this wall….

And THIS one!! I drove down Main Street last week and saw this alley and immediately knew I wanted to shoot here, isn’t it an awesome perspective shot?!

Loved this one too…

Jay plays lacrosse at Heritage so we wanted to incorporate his lacrosse stick in some photos…I LOVE this one!!

Such a rockstar 🙂

Another favorite!!

Thanks for a great time Jay!! More pics coming soon! 🙂

We photographed James & Misti’s wedding & reception at the Chinese House at Conner Prairie on Saturday! Some of you saw these infrared previews yesterday but I wanted all of her preview pics in one post. 😉 They had this antique fire truck sitting out front which made for some cool photos!

LOVED IT!! (Of course, we also took some “normal” ones in color too) 😉

The Chinese house had so many cool details to photograph inside…I shot a lot of details, thinking they’ll make great background textures for album layouts! 🙂

LOVED the brown ties/vests!!

James, our handsome groom…

I LOVE rose petal aisles! They make for so many great shots…

Check out her gorgeous hair!!

Misti looked so pretty!!! Karen Hall & Co. provided her on site hair & make-up…

After some photos at the ceremony site, we ventured down by the covered bridge and grassy area. It was such a glorious, sunny day outside and we were SO happy about it, considering they were predicting rain on Saturday for the last half of the week. Eeek! This shot reminds me of the end of “Dirty Dancing” with Patrick Swayze when he lifts her in the air…LOVED IT!!! 🙂 (By the way, has everyone seen this video on You Tube of a couple who performed that for their 1st dance?! Oh my goodness, I LOVED it!!! I’m just waiting for the day when one of our couples decides to do that!) 🙂

Thought I’d try this shot from ground level…

John’s view with the IR camera! Way to go honey – LOVED IT!!

IR version…

Cross processed version…loved them both! 🙂

Chuck Eaglin was her florist who produced this gorgeous petal aisle and all of the beautiful flowers, he did such a great job…

Gorgeous setting…

They had their dancing on a covered porch in the back of the house so when I saw the cake through the back window, I knew I wanted to get this shot!

YUM! Taylor’s provided their cake….

LOVED this one!! My flash went off just as John was shooting this in fisheye, gotta love “happy accidents” 🙂

They had M&Ms as their favors so we added a touch of bling to the photo. 🙂

And another one…

Thanks for a fun time guys! I hope you’re having a blast on your cruise! 🙂 More pics coming soon…

I’ve always LOVED the look of infrared images, yet I rarely see anyone using such cool technology! I think part of it is because it’s hard to explain and understand…and therefore, it can be very difficult for some people to master, and it can get expensive if you really do it right…but none of those reasons were going to stop me from trying it out!! 🙂 About 10 years ago, I tried IR photography back in the days when everything was film based. It was difficult & unpredictable but I was still fascinated with it. If you don’t know what IR is, CLICK HERE to read all about it. Ken Rockwell does a great job explaining how IR works and various ways to achieve that look.

Anyway, a few years ago, I started wondering if IR cameras were being made specifically for digital yet since digital photography has made such an improvement over the last decade. When I researched it, there still weren’t a ton of IR camera options out there, or they wanted you to have to use filters, long exposures & weird focusing adjustments to achieve that look and all of us wedding photographers know that there just isn’t a lot of time to mess around with that stuff on a wedding day, everything is way too fast paced! So I figured I’d give it some more time…and in the meantime, a few companies began converting everyday digital cameras to make them soley IR! YAY!!! I had my assistant do some additional research a few weeks ago and we found the PERFECT system that is already IR converted and will interchange with all of our current lenses so I bought it and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

The camera came in last Friday and we tried it out on some great landscapes this past Saturday at Misti’s wedding, check them out!! Here’s a sample album spread I put together using 2 of the images…

It’s such a cool & different look…it’s almost like the trees & grass look like they’re in an ice storm or something since the trees & grass reflect a lot of infra red light and therefore, turn a bright white color in the images. 🙂 And don’t worry, we are NOT going to charge extra for these kinds of images, I know that question will be asked soon once everyone sees this blog post! LOL

Here are some full sized favorites from Saturday’s wedding using our new IR camera!

Then I wondered what it would look like in sepia too, I love it! 🙂

Aren’t these awesome!?! I’m so excited to get some feedback on these, let me know what you all think!!!
