October 2007

I started to feel better last Wed/Thurs but then started in with head congestion again on Friday. 🙁 By Saturday morning (yes, before the wedding!) I was at the doctor's office and found out that I have a sinus infection and bronchitis!! :O Yikes. I don't think anyone knew I was even sick on Saturday (which is the way it should be) 😉 but I took most of yesterday off and now I'm backed up on e-mails, editing and returning calls again. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and I can kick this congestion once and for all!! LOL

Just a quick FYI – my hotmail inbox was at 98% this week (eek) and I was forced to upgrade to the new hotmail windows live, which gives you a LOT more space but it's slower than the old version, the buttons aren't all in the same place as before and it's harder to figure out if you've replied to someone or not so this has been an interesting week trying to figure out their new system. Apparently, it's going to be automatically "upgraded" again in the next few weeks…yikes. As of last night, I *think* I've replied to everyone who has e-mailed us over the past week while we were out sick but if for some reason your e-mail to us came back as undeliverable or you haven't heard from me, PLEASE resend your e-mail – you're not bugging me, I promise! LOL

And while I'm on the topic of our e-mails…just another FYI – we have 17 scheduled photo shoots (weddings, portraits & corporate events) over the next 2-3 weeks so I may be a bit slower to respond than usual. Between packing the camera bags, confirming details, shooting, editing, prepping for the next shoot, etc. etc. it's going to be an incredibly busy few weeks around here. If any of you are thinking of booking your portrait sessions for the fall, I highly recommend it…the leaves are starting to turn a little but in the next few weeks, they will be GORGEOUS (especially at Holcomb Gardens) so book your session ASAP before we're totally booked up! These are the remaining time slots we have available for portrait sessions through the end of this month: (including weekday availability)

10/11 @ 5:30 p.m.

10/15-10/17 @ 5:30 p.m.

10/22-10/23 @ 5:30 p.m.

10/25 @ 5:30 p.m.

10/28 available shoots beginning at 10:30, 1:30, 3:00 or 4:30

10/29-10/30 @ 5:30 p.m.

My staff is usually available to come with me on photo shoots during the week beginning at 5:30 and the sunset time in October (by the end of the month) is at 6:45 p.m. although we will start losing our sunlight around 6:20ish so we have more availability during the week in October than we do in November since the sunset times will be working against us in November. If you'd like to book a portrait session on a weekend in November (most of the fall leaves are off the trees by then though) here's what our current weekend availability looks like:

11/4 – 10:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m.

11/11 – 10:30 a.m. & 5 p.m.

Our morning sessions last about an hour or so…we avoid shooting around the noon hour since you can get harsh overhead shadows which isn't flattering on most people. 😉 Click HERE to view our portrait package info and contact us ASAP to book your session! 🙂

Last Friday evening, John & I drove to Greensburg for Amy & Greg's HUGE country wedding on Saturday. We spent the night at a local hotel and got up early the next morning to start shooting…they had a friend of theirs put directional signs on this hill, isn't that hilarious?! 🙂 It was such a beautiful day, they couldn't have asked for better weather! Check out that blue sky!! LOVE IT!

Since a lot of people in the area are farmers, we had to get a shot of this sign outside of the church…. 🙂

Amy was getting ready…

I LOVED this shot…the back of my wedding dress was very similar to this shot and it was like deja vu when I shot this! As Amy says though, "we're twins!" LOL 🙂

Go ND!!! (Sorry Greg….had to throw that in there) 😉 Amy bought this garter as a joke since Greg is NOT an ND fan…but I loved it and it made for some good laughs later….

The kids started writing on the chalk board in the church classroom where everyone was getting ready…

Amy's flowers were AMAZING!!!!! I loved the glitter sparkles painted on the flowers and the gems inside of the roses – WOW!!!

The beautiful bride…. 🙂 LOVED it!

I showed Amy this shot after I took it…it was one of her faves so I had to post it. 🙂 I added a cool cross processed look in photoshop to vary the color a bit, it's definitely another fave for the day!

HILARIOUS!!!!! We walked outside and caught one of the groomsmen sitting in the wagon….I think he's just a tad too big for it, what do you think? 🙂

Cool details…

I loved this wreath! They had so many neat details, I could've shot detail pics all day! LOL

During the ceremony…

I DO!!!! 😀

LOL!! Amy put Greg in charge of the transportation so I think she was a little worried what they'd be riding off in that day…well, after the recessional, we walked out and Greg & his groomsmen had arranged for them to ride off in this party bus that is popular in their town…and the groomsmen added their special touch to the bus….LOL

They handed out favors on the way out, which I thought was a fantastic idea! They had homemade chocolate chip cookies with their new initials on the outside of the cookies that were then wrapped up in a bag with directions to the reception attached – fab idea!!!

One of their adorable flower girls!!

I love it when our couples do a rose petal toss, it makes for some fun photos!

HOT!!

Their reception had a Fall theme with neat decorations and pumpkins everywhere! It was awesome!

Greg has been growing these pumpkins for awhile now so we wanted to make sure we got plenty of pumpkin shots for him! 😉

Greg & Amy were so much fun to work with and their friends and family were equally awesome…everyone was so down to earth and just the nicest group of people to hang out with all night. 🙂 During the reception I put my camera around my neck to have John change the flash batteries and the camera strap got caught on my earring (one of the ones my mom gave me for our wedding!) :O and it flew off. We looked and looked for it (even the band helped us look – they were awesome by the way, they kept calling us the CIA all night since we all have headsets/radios like J. Lo in "The Wedding Planner"…LOL) anyway, no one could find my earring with all of the people around. So, I told Amy & Greg and some of the groomsmen what it looked like in case they ran across it toward the end of the night and sure enough, Amy called my cell after we got home that night and she was so cute!! She was all excited saying that Greg had found my earring!!! YAY GREG!!! 😀 Thank you so much for hunting that down, you totally made my night! 🙂 Have fun in Mackinac Island this week and eat some fudge for us!!!

Thank you to all of you who sent us get well wishes! John's voice is coming and going but overall, we're both doing much better…it's amazing what a little extra sleep and vitamin C can do. 🙂 Today will be my first day back in the office since last week (had 4 shoots last weekend) so now I'm playing catch up…it may take me awhile to respond to all of the e-mails that have come in over the last 5-6 days so please be patient!! I promise I will respond to all of you though. 😀

John & I are both sick with colds right now (how romantic…LOL) so if I'm a little slower to respond this week, it's because I'm at home with a box of Kleenex next to me, trying to avoid getting anyone else sick! 😉 We'll hopefully be back in the office on Wednesday and I will reply to all new orders, album questions, time lines, etc. when we return, thanks for understanding!!!
