July 2017

On 6/3, we photographed Nichole & Tyler’s gorgeous wedding and had the chance to work with her awesome family again! We photographed her sister’s wedding about 3 years ago so it was fun to see so many familiar faces that day!

How did he propose?
“Tyler proposed at the Rose Well House on the Indiana University campus on a beautiful Sunday in February. There is a lot of romantic lore surrounding the Well House and it was one of my favorite spots to go when I was a student at IU. Although I thought it was a spontaneous trip due to good weather it was perfectly planned as we walked through the empty walkways and went straight to the Well House where he got on one knee and asked me to marry him.”

What was your favorite wedding moment?
“Saying our vows during the wedding mass”

What was his favorite wedding moment?
“Our first dance”

What was the funniest wedding moment?
“The father of the bride speech. My father is very anxious about speaking in public and three years ago at my sister’s wedding he said the wrong name for the Groom (his name is Justin but we call him JJ so in trying to say both at once he called him Jason). He joked about it in his speech at my wedding and then said my groom’s name correctly but called me by my sister’s name (a common occurrence in our household, as the youngest child I have learned to respond to both). He was apologetic for the mistake, but the entire crowd erupted in laughter (including me) and I thought it was a perfect way to end his final father of the bride speech.”

What was your first dance song?
“Then” by Brad Paisley

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We are going to Leavenworth, WA and Seattle, WA”

What advice would you give to future brides?
“Book Erin Hession Photography as soon as you get engaged! Her calendar fills up fast!”

How did he propose?

Eric surprised me on Christmas Eve, I thought we were just getting each other boring gifts like Tupperware and instead, out pops a jewelry box! I assumed it was a necklace until I opened it, looked up, and saw he was down on one knee! I was so shocked I said, “Are you serious?” as my first response!

What was your favorite wedding moment?

I loved dancing the night away with my new husband and all of our friends and family. It’s hard to pick a favorite moment, I thought the whole day was amazing!

What was his favorite wedding moment?

Eric loved the reception – food, drinks, and friends and family!

What was the funniest wedding moment?

Funniest wedding moment… that’s a hard one! I cracked up when Eric did a silly little dance before he took my garter off.

What was your first dance song?

“God Gave Me You” by David Barnes. Wonderful song!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

St Martin, it was beautiful there!

What advice would you give to future brides?

Hire Erin Hession! Haha really though, Erin and her team were super helpful in keeping the ball rolling and getting all of the pictures I wanted. Also, on your wedding day, just take things as they come. It poured rain the whole morning, the groomsmen were late, we ran out of a special wine we were told was bottomless… but you can’t fixate on that! Overall the day was perfect and I wouldn’t change anything about it. Thanks Erin and her team!!
