July 2018

Last night we met up with this sweet family of 12 at The Alexander Hotel in downtown Indy for their family photo shoot! The weather looked iffy all day but we managed to get a few outdoor shots in before the sky opened up – thank goodness for indoor back up plans, right?! LOL! Thanks for a fun time you guys, and thanks for being flexible with the weather plan!! 🙂

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding in May and we just adored working with them!! I loved all of their personalized details that went into making their wedding unique…their gorgeous flowers, her Notre Dame themed garter (LOVE it!), the personalized gifts for her parents and Nikki’s “last pitch” to her dad before their Father/Daughter dance…soooo sweet!! 🙂 I think the highlights of the evening were when her siblings surprised them with a custom rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” song that featured Nikki & Jake’s own love story AND their magical sparkler dance at the end of the night, it was so beautiful to see them surrounded by so much love!

In Nikki’s words….

1.      How did he propose? “Jake proposed to me at Holcomb Gardens while a friend of his from high school was taking pictures. He tricked me by saying his friend from high school was “an up and coming photographer” and just taking pictures as a “hobby” to add to his portfolio. Turns out his friend really knew how to work a camera the whole time!” 🙂

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “It’s so hard to choose! The whole day was perfect. But I’d have to say between saying “I do” to the most amazing man ever, our first dance or the sparkler dance. The first dance explained how we met since we line danced to our song. The sparkler dance was magical and looking around I could just see and feel the love from everyone.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment? “Sparkler dance because it was a special moment with my wife and it felt like we were surrounded by love.”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment? Jake: “When the little boys were having a dance off in the groom suite.” Nikki: “When the flower girl took her pictures with her uncle Jake in her pajamas because she didn’t want to put on her dress yet!”

5.      What was your first dance song? Michael Tyler’s song “They Can’t See”

6.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? “Negril, Jamaica”

7.      What advice would you give to future brides? “Don’t stress about the little things especially the weather. It’s going to be however God plans it to be. The week leading up to the wedding is by far the MOST stressful week of your life but take a breath and remember the day is about you and your future spouse, no one else. As long as you’re married at the end of the day that’s all that matters (so cliche but so true!)”
