Extreme Home Makeover Event!

Last Friday afternoon, I had the honor of photographing the season finale of the Extreme Home Makeover event here in Indy! I was so excited to have the opportunity to provide pictures for Estridge, the media and the McFarland family…it was such an exciting event!!

My dad came with me to assist that afternoon since John had to work…he was a great assistant! (Thanks dad!) 🙂

Our first stop was the VIP tent to get pictures of the people, food, logos, signage, auction items, etc….

The idea that a house can be built in a WEEK is still something that is hard to comprehend…it was SO amazing to watch it all come together so quickly!

Here’s dad posing for a quick shot with the builder, Paul Estridge…

Back to work… 🙂

My friends Chelsea and Wendy of CW Photography were also there so dad got these quick shots of us together in front of the new house…

(Left to right: Chelsea, me, Wendy) 🙂 …and all 3 of us being goof balls…yeah, I wasn’t feeling the hard hat – it got attached to my Shootsac quickly! 😉

Right after dad handed the camera back to me, the crowd went WILD and I turned around and saw Ty Pennington coming right towards me! 😀

I bet all of the ladies were wishing they were me at that moment! LOL!

Here’s a shot of the resource library that they built right next to the new house…

And we headed to the backyard to take some pics of the volunteers working on the landscaping & the putting green!

Wendy took this shot of me & dad together in the backyard of the house – loved it!! (Thanks Wendy!!) 🙂

Then I took one Wendy & Chelsea together for their website/blog…. 🙂

Then all of us got kicked out by security…LOL…yes, I’m not kidding. They accidentally gave us media passes instead of Estridge passes and apparently media wasn’t allowed in the backyard. We were able to convince them that we truly weren’t paparazzi in the backyard and they let us go. Pretty funny, huh?! Anyway, we decided the front yard would still be safer since the key hand off was scheduled to happen around 2 p.m. anyway. Instead, Paige came walking up the street to do some interviews & TV footage!

I LOVE this shot of her!! Of course, I also love her line of PINK work tools!! Click here to check it out…Paige actually created a line called Tuff Chix, which shows you can be fashionable and still wear durable construction gear…she’s like the Jessica Claire of the remodeling business, love it! 🙂

There were quite a few adorable onlookers….

And my friend, Karen Sutton (owner of Holy Cow Cupcakes) was also part of the event! She provided her delicious cupcakes for the crew & volunteers last week!

Here’s the house…nearly completed!

They just had to finish up the yard…

I love this shot of dad & his hard hat!

Michael made an appearance while I was shooting too!

No peeking!! LOL 🙂

I love this!!

Doesn’t Mr. Estridge have the best smile & laugh?! What a great guy! It’s so nice to see the spirit of giving and volunteerism emerge throughout this project and beyond. The city of Indianapolis is better off because of his contributions…

Even the security people were taking pictures! LOL

Right before my shift ended, they repaved the road in front of the house…

Then the volunteers began moving in bags and bags of home decor!

I read on The Indy Channel’s website this morning that Butler University gave all 3 boys full ride scholarships to Butler, that is so fantastic!!

Thank you to all of you who helped make this a successful project! Make sure you tune in on May 17th to watch the season finale….I know John & I will be watching…5/17 is our wedding anniversary, so we’ll be tuned in after a celebratory dinner for sure! 🙂

P.S. If you’d like to view all of the images from our photo shoot, go to www.sendtoprint.net and type in this event code: EHMOIndy (all 1 word) Enjoy!

Erin, this is so cool! What a beautiful house when it was complete. A very recent Extreme Makeover house was done near my neighborhood, so I get to drive by it often; so cool! GREAT photos!

What an opportunity. Doesn’t happen everyday.
Couldn’t have selected a better photographer.
    Congrats!
