Many of you have heard me talk about various Junior League events throughout the year and if you’re looking for a place to meet new people, give back to the community and have fun then JLI might be for you! The Recruitment Committee is once again gearing up to find dynamic women to join the Junior League of Indianapolis. The 2009-2010 Provisional Class is now forming! Shop ‘Til You Drop Contest!
Many of you know that I’m involved in the Junior League of Indianapolis, a non-profit women’s community service organization and our annual fundraiser, Holiday Mart, is enjoyed by thousands of Indiana residents every year! Since I am on the Holiday Mart planning committee, I am able to purchase discount tickets to give away to friends, family & colleagues so I thought I’d put together a little blog reader participation contest to help increase awareness for the Junior League and for Holiday Mart!! 😉
Here’s what you need to do:
Post a link to the Junior League’s website (www.jlindy.org) AND to the Holiday Mart specific webpage (http://www.jlindy.org/content/Holidaymart.cfm) on at least FIVE Indiana-related websites, forums, blogs, etc. This could be on wedding forums, blogs about Indiana events, shopping blogs, facebook events, etc. Be creative!! Once you’ve posted both web page links on at least five sites, email me at [email protected] with your full name & mailing address and I will mail TWO FREE tickets to Holiday Mart to you! (Valued at $24)
Right now, I only have 23 more tickets to giveaway and I will only be receiving a few more at the October meeting so once they’re gone, they’re gone – and the contest will be over so the first people to do this will win! GOOD LUCK!! 🙂
Charity Project – Shopping Bags Needed!!
As some of you know, I’m on the Holiday Mart Committee for Junior League this year and the Junior League’s “Mistletoe Madness” booth is looking for companies who have large shopping bags that they’d like to donate for the event! Mistletoe Madness is a large booth within the Holiday Mart that is filled with 25-30 various vendors offering Christmas related items. The Junior League makes a profit off of those items that are sold to the public and they use the profits to help support our various charitable projects throughout the year. We won Top 5 AGAIN!!!
This years A-List competition was fierce, we were competing against 113 other photographers but I’m SO excited to announce that we made the Top 5 for the 2nd year in a row!!! We had an outdoor wedding with horrible weather. Despite all of the rain and a water logged camera, I still had amazing pictures!
Wedding photography not only amazing but flow of wedding and reception did not require an event coordinator. We are still getting compliments on our wedding and the photography three years later! Thanks for everything Erin!

Erin is such a great listener and gives the best suggestions on how to make your wedding everything it can possibly be. I am sure by the time the wedding came, everyone felt like Erin was a long lost friend, because I talked about her all the time. Because of Erin, I also got great references for my cake, my flowers, makeup, even my Day of Wedding Coordinator. I loved every minute of working with Erin and her staff!

She has done my wedding, my anniversary, my kids, my service dog and much more. She is not only an awesome awesome photographer she is a nice sincere person!! As they would say in the south “she is good people”. Very shortly after my wedding my grandmother was dying and she got a photo of me and my grandma done early so I could give it to her before she died. That is just the person Erin is. Full of talent and heart and you just can’t find that out there these days. She could charge three times the amount and still be worth EVERY PENNY!! I would not have anyone else do my photography. She captures the story of the day not just the line up and that was important to me. She was also willing to listen to ideas I had as well of what I wanted from my wedding and what was sentimental to me. I just can’t say enough about Erin except she is doing more photos for me this week!! I just keep going back!!! She always takes her time and is never in a hurry she makes sure everything is perfect!! Way to go Erin!!!

An Update on our Friend Jessica…
Jessica’s best friend (also named Jessica) sent me an update on her tonight that I wanted to post on here. MANY of you helped our fundraising efforts earlier this year and we appreciate it SO much!! She’s halfway done with the whole cancer treatment process and is doing great! Jess sent me this pic of the two of them together at her 31st b-day this weekend:

“Hello Everyone!Â
I just wanted to send an update on my friend Jessica who is fighting breast cancer. She has been doing amazingly well! Almost 6 months have passed and she is halfway done with her treatments. She just finished her final round of Chemotherapy and now she is going to start the second portion of her treatment and maybe the hardest, daily radiation. She has had the strongest faith and brightest attitude of anyone I know; throughout this entire process she has just rolled with the punches.
She has trudged to work even when she was extremely ill with vomiting, made it to family functions without her hair and even worked through a scare when they thought that the cancer might have spread to her brain. They found out that it hadn’t but what a tremendous cross to bear while caring for other sick patients as a nurse herself!
We totaled over $5000 for her in our first round of fundraising but she still has a long road ahead. The radiation has significant side effects, comparable (if not worse) than the chemo and she will need all the help we can offer her! For someone who has whole-heartedly cared for others and sacrificed herself so many times even while battling such a frightening, unrelenting disease, she truly is selfless.
I feel that she deserves the encouragement and support of others to give back to her what she has given to so many others. She just celebrated her 31st birthday and I want us to be able to show her this will be a better year than the last and she still has all of us behind her to see her through!
