Wedding Tips & Trends

Hey everyone! Some of you might be wondering where our 2014 wedding posts are at since we used to post them on here before releasing the whole website of images to our clients…well, we’re trying something new this year. I’ve changed up our workflow a bit to see if we can stay a bit more efficient with editing if we focus entirely on posting the teasers to facebook within a few weeks of the wedding and then finish up editing the remaining images for our clients. So far, I think it’s working out well! What this means is that brides and their families are able to see their photos faster and my back log isn’t as bad as it usually is in our busy season. Did you know that ONE wedding blog post can often take HALF of my day? Some weeks have so many appointments and photo shoots scheduled that I’m only able to devote 2 or 3 days to editing, so blogging can actually throw me further behind in season. If you want to see our latest weddings, “like” our Facebook page HERE because the teasers get posted on my personal and business pages first and then once our season has slowed down a bit and I have more time for blogging, I’ll begin posting all of our weddings from 2014. 🙂

A few weeks ago we met up with Erin at Fancy Fortune Cookies and her art director, Oriana, to do a photo shoot for their new wedding favor website! I’ve been a fan of Fancy Fortune Cookies for a long time now, in fact, I even have them on my candy buffet in my office, so I was super excited to do this photo shoot for them! 🙂 They have a photo studio in their office which was really cool. We set up different scenes with a variety of props, backgrounds, linens, papers, plates, etc. to showcase the variety of colors, styles and options that customers have when purchasing the cookies. Of course, I really loved the “blinged” ones!! 😉 Brides, if you’re looking for an awesome wedding favor, check out their current site by clicking HERE! 🙂

Ok, so I’m SUPER behind on blogging because we’ve been crazy busy shooting throughout the entire month of May and now I’m playing catch up! LOL Expect LOTS of posts over the next few days/weeks! 🙂

Anyway, we photographed this super sweet couple’s wedding back on 4/12 at Union Station and we had a blast with them that day! 🙂 Kelly’s dress was OH SO fabulous and the socks that she got for Tim were hilarious! She was a stunning bride and I loved all of her details…the dress, jewelry, flowers, decorated wagon, lace covered vases & cake looked amazing!! Union Station looked awesome, as always, and they surprised their guests with fun signature drinks, custom chocolate favors and late night donuts which were a huge hit! They were such a sweet couple and we loved working with them. Thanks for a great time you guys, hope you’re enjoying all of the photos! 🙂

On 4/5, we photographed Amy & Paul’s gorgeous country chic barn wedding & reception at the Henry Breeding Farm in Edinburgh! I LOVED all of their details that day!! Amy had a personalized hanger for her dress which she fondly calls the “Erin hanger” since so many of my brides purchase them on Etsy before their weddings! (Love that!) LOL She had a stunning dress that was just perfect for her, she wore fun purple shoes, had a pink antique Chevy truck for their transportation & she had an adorable flower girl (her niece) who wore a dress that matched hers. Paul also had some neat details of his own, including a custom locket attached to his boutonniere in remembrance of his mom and his groomsmen wore matching purple argyle socks that day. They were a lot of fun to photograph!

Jamee Bryant did an AMAZING job on the decor as usual, I loved the vintage cake stands, burlap and lace wrapped vases & the chandelier hanging from their altar decor. Amy’s mom made all of her custom stationery and it was awesome! She even made “guest libs” as a fun game for guests to do during cocktail hour. Their cake was ADORABLE and their cake topper was definitely one of my all time favorites! Amy & Paul are so adorably cute together and were so fun to photograph! We’ve all been friends for a long time and Amy has followed our work for years so it was fun to be able to finally shoot their wedding! 🙂 It was such a beautiful day and the barn was the perfect backdrop for their event…to top it off, we got a fabulous sunset that night! 🙂 Thanks for a great time you guys, hope you’re enjoying all of your pictures!!

On 2/1 we photographed Tony & Emily’s AMAZING wedding & reception at Union Station!! This was an extra special wedding for us, not only are they a sweet couple that we adore but Tony is one of our industry friends, he’s a DJ for Event One DJs! We’ve done lots of weddings together before and it was awesome that they chose us to capture their event! 🙂 Emily’s dress was stunning, she looked like a princess and Tony looked pretty dapper himself! I was IN LOVE with their floral ball that was draped over the ceremony space, talk about gorgeous!!

Their ceremony was so pretty and personalized, they surprised their guests with a barber shop quartet and a bagpiper! During cocktail hour, the staff flipped the room and it looked PHENOMENAL! The uplighting really made the room “pop” in photos and the details looked amazing…the centerpieces, monogram, linens, crystals & cake were gorgeous! Emily is a big fan of Disney films so Darcie and her team surprised Emily & Tony by having Wes play “Be Our Guest” during the salad parade! I loved it!

They also surprised their guests with a fun mother/son dance that Tony and his mom choreographed, an adorable candy buffet, a photo booth with fun cut outs, late night snacks & a confetti exit! It was definitely a wedding that none of us will ever forget!! Thanks for a fabulous time you guys! Enjoy the photos!! 🙂
