January 2008

Ok, so I know this is a bit off topic and I haven't really posted any book reviews in the past but since many of you e-mailed saying that I should post about fun and random topics in 2008, I guess this qualifies. 🙂 I just finished reading a book that Dave Ramsey suggested reading during his Business Coach class a little while ago called "The Go-Getter" by Peter Kyne. Since it's set in the early 1900's it was a bit hard for me to get into at first but once I got into it, I ended up reading the whole thing in about one night! I've found that most entrepreneurs like myself already have that go-getter spirit and attitude but this story really helps inspire you and it shows you that working hard to fulfill your dreams is WORTH it!! I'm living proof of that! The book exemplifies the idea of "getting it done at all costs" and that persistence is the key to success. So, my question to all of you…what motivates you? How hard are you willing to work to fulfill your goals and dreams? What's your "blue vase" in life? Read the book and let me know! 😉

I'm so excited, it's been like Christmas all over again this week! Yesterday, I finally had some time to go check out the Nikon D300 (remember this post?) well, I stopped by Robert's yesterday and I fell in love with it and bought it on the spot! Even at 3200 ISO, the grain was nearly invisible…I didn't even know I was shooting at 3200 at first – holy cow!! Then I start playing around in the menu and OMG, it shoots in color, B&W, sepia and cyanotype!?! AWESOME!! The focusing on the camera is insanely accurate too. 🙂 Click here to read more about the D300!

John & I will be doing a lot of traveling for photo shoots, conventions and seminars this year so we had discussed getting an iPod touch this month so that we could still be somewhat connected to the world while away from the office…well, he went online this week and bought one at Circuit City and then came home with it and showed me what my blog looked like on the little 3.5 inch screen and I fell in love with that too! It was so cute and it will be incredibly useful when traveling so I had him go back and get me one. I just wish they made them in pink! LOL I think tonight he's going to go get me a pink cover for it and find out if they have a stylus pen for it…my nails are constantly in the way when I try to type, so yeah, that could be a problem. But I'm sure there's a way to work around that. 🙂 I love playing with new toys, I've been in "gadget heaven" this week!! 🙂

It's "boudoir season" again! Want to give your hubby something he'll LOVE forever this V-Day? Book a boudoir session with us! All sessions need to be completed by the end of January to be online by Valentine's Day so book your photo shoot today…they are SO much fun! 🙂

 * Boudoir portraits: Our boudoir sessions are $399 and include myself (Erin) as your photographer and another one of my female staff members as my assistant at your shoot. We can do your shoot in the privacy of your home or at a nice hotel (hotel fees are extra, we can recommend some great Indy hotels if you're in need of a recommendation though) and we allow an unlimited number of outfit changes during your 2-3 hour photo shoot. We shoot an unlimited number of images during your shoot too and then post all of them on a password protected website so that you can view and order images afterwards. The boudoir package also includes 20 retouched 5×7's of your favorite shots in a small black album, perfect for wrapping up for your hubby for Valentine's Day! We will typically arrive a few minutes early for boudoir sessions so that we can decide on where we'll actually shoot and take a look at your clothing choices. It's better to start with a soft look and go more dramatic with clothing, hair & make-up as the shoot progresses so we'll help you determine the order of "looks" with your various outfits. Email us to book your photo shoot at [email protected]

Here's our double booth all set up for the show on Saturday morning. (Right before the doors opened) 🙂 John & Melissa did an AWESOME job of helping me with everything this weekend. I couldn't have done it without them! Here's Barb and Delaney during the runway show…many of you probably remember Barb from this post, she's the pilates instructor with the adorable kitties. 😉

Here's Hillary looking gorgeous as always! Chuck from The Florist at Allisonville Nursery created all of the amazing bouquets for the fashion shows and I believe this particular dress was a designer gown from Nancy's Bridal. Nancy is SO sweet and her gowns are just stunning.

If you haven't booked someone for your hair & make-up yet, I HIGHLY recommend calling/e-mailing her ASAP! I know they get really booked up quickly too, especially after producing these amazing fashion shows every year. 🙂

Final group shot of the 2008 Convention Center Bridal Show…thanks for another fabulous year everyone!

There are so many runway pics that I wanted to post…but I had to narrow them down or else you'd all be scrolling through them forever! LOL Anyway, I wanted to write about the new 2008-2009 fashion trends that were showcased on the runway this year before posting them all!

In bridal fashion, I noticed that they've incorporated lots of color – and not just pastels or in bridesmaids dresses. There were darker hues of pinks, greens, corals and all shades of vibrant colors! Low and open back dresses seem to be in style, as well as low waisted gowns, ruffles, criss cross back straps and sweep trains. I also noticed a lot of vertical embellishments down the center of the dresses and some stunning Renaissance style couture gowns this year!

In bridesmaids dresses, I noticed a lot of fun & flirty dresses…some tea length dresses….and even the mermaid style dresses for a more swank affair. In florals, crystal bouquets are becoming popular, as well as jeweled bouquets and hand tied ribbons. It also seemed like the longer stemmed bouquets are making a comeback. They've been incorporating a lot of color, florals, jewels and extensions in hairstyles for 2008 and the make-up styles are natural but the level of "drama" depends on the style of dresses and themes incorporated into the wedding. The lips & eyes were definitely more defined and of course, air brush make-up is still the hottest thing since sliced bread. 🙂 Pics coming soon!

P.S. We even had a celebrity at the runway show…did any of you recognize her??? 🙂 The first bride-to-be that comments or e-mails me with the correct answer wins a $50 gift card for our services!!
