1.      How did he propose? “Mike had Sarah follow a poem which lead her to the Chicago Riverwalk, which is where he proposed to her.”

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite wedding moment was seeing Mike for the first time during our private moment.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment? “Mike says ‘ditto’ for his favorite moment.”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “One of funniest wedding moments was all three of my cousins and my uncle busting out the dance moves in sequence. Another funny moment was my uncle and cousin running around Mike and me for 3 minutes with sparklers and then asking them to do it again for Erin’s signature sparkler picture!”

5.      What was your first dance song? “Our first dance song was “Falling in Love with You” by Elvis Presley featured sung by Hailey Reinhart”

6.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? ” For our honeymoon we went to London, Scotland, and Ireland for 2 weeks.”

7.      What advice would you give to future brides? “I would recommend having Erin be your photographer and using her detailed schedule (It worked out perfect).  We were so happy we did our private moment together and took all of our formal wedding pictures before the ceremony.  We really were able to enjoy our wedding day.”

On 7/22, we photographed Andrea & Tristan’s fun wedding (that included their adorable dog!!) at Whitetail Tree Farm! 🙂

How did he propose? “He proposed on Valentine’s day.  He’s always talked about how Valentine’s day is a Hallmark holiday and he does’t really like it.  The weekend before Valentine’s Day we went to Georgetown, KY to visit his best friend’s family and I had kind of thought he would propose there.  When he didn’t, I figured it wouldn’t happen for a while.  On Valentine’s day we made dinner together and he rushed me out of the kitchen and told me I could do the dishes later.  He hugged me and being the blunt person I am, I said “What is wrong with you? Why is your heart beating so fast?”  He proposed after that and I don’t really remember exactly what he said because I was so caught off guard.  I asked if my parents knew and he said my dad did and I said “well then we have to go see my mom” (they just live about 3 mins away).  He had also bought an ice cream cake earlier that day so he got it out and we went to my parents house and had ice cream cake and celebrated. “

What was your favorite wedding moment? “There are so many, it’s hard to decide.  I would have to say the time we spent taking pictures or walking down the aisle, seeing all my friends and family watching and Tristan at the end of the aisle.  I also loved having my dog, Charlotte be a part of the whole day.  She made it so special for both of us and letting her out the door and seeing her turn and run down the aisle and greet everyone was so sweet!  Also the music played by the band during the ceremony was perfect and exactly what I dreamed it would be!”

What was his favorite wedding moment? “He agreed there were a few.  He enjoyed our first look and our pictures together, seeing the flower girls (our nieces) walk down the aisle together, and saying our vows.”

What was the funniest wedding moment? “About 15 minutes before the ceremony, the police contacted the owner of the venue and told him they were sending officers out with their sirens on because there was an elderly couple lost in the woods and all they would tell them was they were in a Christmas tree farm and when they located their cell phone, they knew it was on the property.  The owner said, “No you cannot send police out here with their sirens on, I have a big wedding starting in 15 minutes, I will go find them.”  Of course we didn’t know about this until later that night, but we all had a good laugh and several people did say they heard sirens before the wedding started.”

What was your first dance song? “Let It Be Me” by Ray LaMontagne

Where did you go on your honeymoon? “We went to Saugatuck, Michigan and stayed at the most amazing luxury bed and breakfast called The Hotel Saugatuck https://www.thehotelsaugatuck.com/.  We stayed in one of the cottage suites and we didn’t want to leave! They had hydrosilk tubs in all the rooms and delivered breakfast every morning and a gourmet dessert every night.”

What advice would you give future brides? “Just be in the moment!  Try to take everything in.  Don’t worry about the little things and focus on what is important.  It goes by so fast and you can never have that time again, so try to really remember it and be present in what is going on!  Something will go wrong and not everything will go as planned, trust that other people can and will pick up the pieces to make it perfect and the day will turn out exactly how it is meant to be for you and your new husband!”

When I first met with Maggie & Ryan, I asked what they like to do together and Ryan mentioned that he loved going to baseball games together! His eyes lit up when I suggested doing an engagement shoot at Victory Field and after a couple of emails to a friend/past client who works there, we made it happen! We had so much fun with them that day!! 🙂

On 7/1, we photographed Mary & Matt’s gorgeous Kate Middleton-inspired wedding!! Everything was right on point…her dress, flowers, opulent church, replica cake, earrings, and even the “Duchess” signature drink, it was all perfect! She had a fabulous vendor team to pull it off too:

  1. How did he propose?
  • In 2015, we spent Christmas with our families and apart from each other.  Following a nice dinner with friends on New Year’s Eve, we exchanged Christmas gifts at home.  The final present Matt gave me came in a gift bag from a local jewelry store.  I thought he had gotten me a necklace, which we had shopped for together before Christmas, but when I opened the gift bag, I was totally surprised to find it contained an engagement ring instead!  Best New Year’s ever!
  1. What was your favorite wedding moment?
  • I have lots of favorite moments, but walking down the aisle with my mom and brother while being humbled by the presence of all of our friends and family members and seeing Matt’s eyes when he saw me for the first time in my gown and veil was just priceless!
  1. What was his favorite wedding moment?
  • One of my favorite moments was seeing Mary’s face light up when we arrived at the reception.  I immediately knew that she was thrilled with how everything came together, and that made all of the time and effort spent planning in the months leading up to the wedding totally worth it.
  1. What was the funniest wedding moment?
  • Both the Matron of Honor and the Best Man gave great speeches which included funny-but-not-embarrassing jokes that made the whole room laugh.
  1. What was your first dance song?
  • “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra
  1. Where did you go on your honeymoon?
  • We just took a short “mini-moon” right after the wedding.  We went to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine.  It was beautiful!
  1. What advice would you give to future brides?
  • Lots of people will tell you that your wedding day will go by so incredibly fast, and those people could not be more correct.  Try not to spend your whole wedding day obsessing over the details, and make a conscious effort to experience and enjoy the day!
