February 2018

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding at the Columbia Club in November and had a blast with them! Sam’s dress was STUNNING (hello couture gorgeousness!!) and their venue was the perfect, elegant setting for their big day! We were able to take some beautiful pics in the lobby and then hop outside to the monument for some fun photos with the wedding party. Santa even stopped by on a motorcycle so we got a few photos with him! LOL They had a gorgeous ceremony on the 3rd floor overlooking the monument after sunset and then Jim Cerone got the party started and the dance floor was packed all night long! Thanks for a fun time you guys!

In Samantha’s words…

1.      How did he propose?

“Nick proposed in San Antonio on the Riverwalk next to a beautiful waterfall. In fact, we had passed by that very location several times during the day. I really wanted a picture together in front, but there was always a crowd. After dinner, we headed back to the location. It was finally clear & I joked that I’m sure it’s a popular proposal spot. At that point, Nick got down on one knee. I actually thought he was joking & laughed telling him to get up. Of course Nick was trying to get the ring from his pocket, but I still kept laughing at him thinking he was taking the joke too far. When he actually got the ring out, I was in complete shock. At first I didn’t even remember to say “YES”. I wanted to know every detail of who knew & how he managed to hide this from me. Of course I said Yes eventually! 🙂 The best part was that the Riverwalk has tour boats & people were cheering & helping to take photos of us after it happened. We got to put on a little show for the tourists!”

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment?

“Is everything an acceptable answer?! I’d say my dad’s speech. It was perfectly thought out & really showcased our love. He nailed it. ALSO Jim playing ‘This is Indiana’ & everyone singing along & dancing. Our group was filled with love.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment?

“My favorite wedding moment was either saying the vows or when Jim played ‘This is Indiana’.”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment?

“When Tyler and Katie couldn’t eat because they were nervous to give their speeches lol”

5.      What was your first dance song?

“‘All of Me’ by John Legend”

6.      Where are you going on your honeymoon?

“London, Amsterdam, & Paris”

7.      What advice would you give to future brides?

“Deep breath. Everyone will tell you this but the day goes by in a flash (photography pun). Try to take in as much as you can. Eat, Drink, & get Married!”

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding at Christ the King Church & The Hilton downtown! I loved how they incorporated their love for the Indy 500, football and the color red into their entire wedding color scheme/theme. 🙂 The guys wore fun socks, the ladies had cute red shoes, they had an Indy 500 themed cake topper and Gigi’s added football helmets and checkered flags to the cupcakes that night! Too cute! We had some extra time between the ceremony & reception so we stopped at Mass Ave and Monument Circle for a few fun wedding party shots that day, I always love it when we have a little extra time for more fun candids, I’m sure some of those pics will end up as canvases on their walls! 😉 Thanks for a fun time you guys!!

In Tabitha’s words….

How did he propose?  “When we lived at our condo on Mass Ave, we often spent Friday nights walking down Mass Ave together and ending up somewhere new to try for dinner.  Well one Friday night after work, I came home and immediately started to get ready for our usual Mass Ave stroll together.  However, when I walked downstairs to leave, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  Obviously I said yes!  About 5 minutes after that, the door bell rang.  When I answered it, my family, his family, and our friends were all standing outside our door ready to celebrate with us.  He had made arrangements for them to travel to Indy to celebrate with us and surprise me.”

What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite wedding moment was when those church doors opened and I saw Chris looking so handsome, waiting for me to walk down the aisle to him.”

What was his favorite wedding moment? “The same moment as Tab’s.  When those doors opened and I saw her looking directly at me, smiling, ready to walk down the aisle to me, to our future together.”

What was the funniest wedding moment? “For Chris and I, I think the funniest wedding moment was actually during our ceremony at the church.  There was some confusion between our readers and both of them stood up and walked toward the altar.  After realizing this, one of the readers casually turned around and sat back down.  But the look on his face was priceless!”

What was your first dance song? “Our first dance song was by Olin and the Moon called ‘Gonna Make You Mine’.”

Where are you going on your honeymoon? “We are going to Italy for 7 days to sightsee multiple locations.  Venice, Naples, Rome” (jealous!!) 😉

What advice would you give to future brides? “Enjoy the wedding day and reception as much as you can because it absolutely just flies by!!  The evening ends way too quick, so soak it all in!”

I don’t know about you but I’m ready for Spring & warmer weather!! 🙂 Since we’ve had a lot of interest in doing another “back to back” mini session day, we’ve decided to offer a full day of mini sessions on Saturday April 7th with a rain back up date of 4/8. If it’s been awhile since you’ve updated your head shots, profile photos on social media, family photos, pics of your kids, pets or just photos of you and your significant other, email me to book your Spring mini session with us! (Also, if 4/7 or 4/8 won’t work for you, email me anyway…we have other dates available before and after other shoots this Spring too!) 😉

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding and reception at the Ritz! I was super excited to shoot their event, not only because of how fun and cool they are, but we had a great vendor team that day who made their vision come to life. Hannah & Corey hired Ooh La La Events (LOVE them!) to not only coordinate their event but they also helped turn their ceremony space into a cool after party/club vibe after dinner and the formalities that night. It was so awesome!! Everything looked so beautiful that day, everyone knocked it out of the park and gave them an amazing event that they’ll never forget!

Hannah & Corey also win the “most shocking wedding story” award…the week before their wedding, they were surprised with a miracle BABY! In 20+ years of shooting weddings, this was the first time we had heard a story like this! LOL Baby Judith made her surprise arrival and wanted to be part of their wedding story and photos! Congrats on the new addition, it was awesome to capture some of the first photos of your new family of 3 that day. 🙂

In Hannah’s words…

1.      How did he propose? “Corey proposed to me outside of the war memorial in downtown Indianapolis, after having lunch at The Tap. We were walking back to our apartment and he wasn’t beside me anymore, I turned around and BAM! He was down on one knee and smiling his cutesy little smile and he said ‘Hannah, I’ve known for a while now I wanted to propose….. but will you marry me?’  I obviously said yes and the rest is history. He thought I had no clue, but women’s intuition told me ‘He’s being weird today, more so than normal… he’s either bringing home a dog or he’s proposing.’ His sister Grace even came by before her own engagement pictures were being taken to “borrow jewelry” which was true, but also to see if I had any idea if he was actually going to propose and helped me pick out the “perfect engagement outfit”.  Even though it was October, I hadn’t been outside yet and dressed for the fall weather, but to my dismay it was closer to about 70 degrees out and I sweat the entire time we were together and although the outfit was perfect in my opinion, I think I lost 10 pounds that day.” 🙂

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite wedding moment was taking a moment to just soak in the reality of it all, right before walking down the aisle with my dad. We were all standing waiting to walk out and because of how our venue was set up, I was able to see everyone who came to celebrate our special day with us as well as watch our bridal party walk down in front of me and to me, seeing my husband, seeing our band of misfits, aka our amazing bridal party, and all of our guests watch us get married was one of the most inspiring moments and everything I had hoped it would be.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment? “Corey’s favorite wedding moment was the best man speech and tearing up the dance floor with everyone!”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “Our funniest wedding moment in my opinion, was hearing the truth behind all 3 speeches – my dad’s when he mentioned me going “pioneer woman” after having our daughter just a week before our wedding AT HOME AND NO CLUE WE WERE HAVING HER, my maid of honor and sister in law mentioning how well we meshed with our love of super hero movies and all things nerdy, and his best man Sully’s speech when he mentioned thankfully Corey finding true love with me and not his first love of St. Jude”

5.      What was your first dance song? “Our first dance song was “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons”

6.      Where are you going on your honeymoon? “We were going to go to New York for a short weekend getaway, but our little miracle of a daughter decided to show up the week before, so we had to postpone our actual honeymoon. Instead, we went and saw Thor: Ragnarok (again total nerds), enjoyed some margaritas, then went and visited some of our friends before they left town and came home to enjoy our time with our daughter and enjoy a glass of champagne.  Not everyone’s cup of tea, but we can take a trip anytime, we can’t always have that time with our daughter.”

7.      What advice would you give to future brides? “My advice to future brides is to take it one step at a time, choose your vendors wisely because they can make or break your day completely (I SUGGEST ERIN FOR PHOTOGRAPHY, OH  LA LA EVENTS FOR PLANNING – takes a lot of stress off of you, trust me on this – & THE RITZ CHARLES FOR VENUE… just saying, made our day about as stress free as it could be) 🙂 & lastly, take a moment to yourself at some point during the day to be alone and tell yourself just how lucky you truly are to be a part of something so amazing as the perfect wedding.”
