Blog

First, I have to give a shout out to the girls at Hill & Usher/Hartford who were WONDERFUL and SO EASY to work with on our water logged camera claim!!! Photographers who read my blog – if you don't have insurance or you aren't happy with your current provider, I highly recommend Hartford's Photographers Insurance Package, not only does it cover all of the usual stuff, but the stretch endorsement for "business personal property off premises" covered us completely and the check to reimburse us for our new D200 came in today – only 2 weeks after submitting the claim!! I was totally impressed…especially since I had forgotten to update my equipment list (oops) and the camera that died wasn't even on it. I thought it would take a lot longer and figured that they'd make me send it to them (totally expected under the circumstance) but they didn't…they even checked out my blog to see the photos of the rained out wedding first hand and couldn't believe it! LOL Luckily in all of the years that I've been with them, that was my first claim ever (and hopefully my last) but it was nice to actually have a GOOD experience with the insurance industry that wasn't a hassle like I thought it could have been…

Anyway, back to the wedding…I remember the three of us sitting down at dinner that night, in complete shock after shooting a wedding in the pouring down rain, and I blurted out, "This wedding will be published!" John & Diana looked confused at first and then I said, "After this is all said and done, no one would believe the pictures that we have from tonight's wedding….it will be published somewhere someday, I'm sure of it." They kind of laughed and agreed…I don't know where that random thought came from in the midst of all of that, but sure enough, I received an e-mail from the bride today. A friend of hers found this site from the Farmers Almanac where they're holding a "Worst Wedding Weather" contest!!! She's submitting her story and our pics and if they win, they'll receive a 2nd honeymoon with a vow renewal on a cruise! 😀 They ssssooooo deserve to win….and I hope we get to shoot that wedding too!! LOL 😀 Good luck you guys!!!!!

This weekend we photographed Kasey & Matt's engagement session at Holcomb Gardens…love that place! They were SO cute together!! The back light was amazing too…another perfect day for an outdoor photo shoot. 🙂

After the success of this shot at Michelle & Jim's wedding, we decided to give it a try during an engagement session too. 🙂

Matt has such a great smile!!

They both went to Butler so we used the new clock as a prop for their photos!

Thanks for a fun time you guys! Can't wait until your wedding!! 🙂

Last weekend, we photographed Michelle & Jim's wedding & reception at the Marriott at Keystone at the Crossing. They were so much fun to be around all day, we just love them and their families!! 🙂 This garter (above) was passed down from Michelle's grandma to her mom and now to her…all three women wore it on their wedding days. So cute!!

Michelle is so adorable! Her bridesmaids gave her a yellow friendship rose that morning, how sweeeet!!! 🙂

I had to put a shot of this in here…remember the Mexico luggage fiasco? Well, talk about making lemonade out of lemons! LOL My damaged luggage was replaced with an adorable 4-piece pink luggage set and one of the 4 pieces is now our new snazzy upgraded emergency kit on wheels!! 😀 Our other kit was busting at the seams as it was…we were able to go on a little shopping spree last week to fill it up with even more stuff than before and we used the new one for the first time at their wedding which was a huge hit! I'll post another shot of the contents once we get it all organized…. 🙂 And Michelle, we added that liquid band-aid stuff this week….LOL 🙂

Here's Jim's face during their private moment…I love it when couples do a private moment and see each other before the wedding…the groom's face is always so much more authentic when he sees his bride for the first time without a ton of other people around. Jim's smile lit up the whole place!

He just ADORES her!!

It was SUCH a perfect day outside….loved the sunburst!!

They saw this shot on another photographer's blog and wanted to give it a try….loved it!

I LOVE chair covers…they totally transform the look of a setting and are GREAT for pictures!

133.jpg143.jpg

Right after the ceremony, they hopped in their decorated van and followed us over to the Village of West Clay where we took a lot of photos in a different setting… 🙂

Loved her bouquet! Julie Hollis of Julie's Flowers of Geist did a fantastic job!

Jim actually proposed in a gazebo that looked very similar to this at Coxhall Gardens. Since there was another wedding going on though, we couldn't take pictures there so this was the next best thing!  🙂

There was also a wedding taking place in West Clay so we couldn't use the Meetinghouse area for photos so John & I drove around the day before the wedding to scout some other cool locations. Since we only had about 20 minutes to shoot there, we wanted to make the most of our time there the next day…as we were driving around though, I found this fantastic wrought iron gazebo and once I stood under it, I already had this shot in my head!!! 😀 The architecture and lines were just too cool not to use it for photos. 🙂

After photos at West Clay, we headed back to the Marriott for their gorgeous reception…another masterpiece by Classic Cakes and Julie Hollis

So cute…. 🙂

Jim literally dove under her dress for the garter, it was hilarious and totally unexpected!

And some excited guys dove for it too!

They had a chocolate fountain set up towards the end of the night which was a huge hit!

Congrats you guys!! Hope you're having fun on your honeymoon! 🙂 More pics coming soon…

This past week has been crazy busy….last Friday was my grandpa's b-day, Saturday was my aunt's b-day and Sunday was mine! 🙂 We did a joint b-day celebration on Friday at my mom's house for me & grandpa…then shot a wedding on Saturday…John & I celebrated my b-day together on Sunday….did a joint b-day party at dad's for me & my aunt on Monday after a planning meeting for the next holiday bridal show…we've been working on orders…meeting with brides and corporate clients…we did a photo shoot for UPS today and now tomorrow will be filled with preparing for this weekend's shoots! 🙂 I've been slacking on the blog this week due to all of these projects, appointments, shoots and celebrations but now I can post some cool pics. 😉 You'll have to excuse the photo quality on this post…all of these were taken with my little point & shoot…well, except for this one below. That was taken with my new D200. 😀 (Sweet camera!!!) The photo above is one of three cakes I received last weekend…loved the pink! (Of course…) My sister decorated one of my gift bags with all kinds of bling, she's like a little mini me, it's hilarious.

On Friday, my grandparents came into town and my mom made her famous turkey & mashed potatoes for our b-day dinners. We bought grandpa a cool blue jacket for the Fall that looked great on him as well as a new book he wanted and some fun jelly belly stuff. On Sunday, John surprised me with a dozen pink roses, b-day balloons, chocolates, a cute pink iPod (which I LOVE) and a surprise dinner to Kincaid's. That's definitely one of our favorite restaurants. They have a Dijon chicken dish that is amazing!!!

On Monday afternoon, I ended up at Robert's trying to repair or replace my camera from Saturday's wedding (read post below) and ended up getting the Nikon D200 instead.  I love it! The highlight of Monday evening's b-day party was when my dad wrapped up his Minolta X-700 for me though. When I was 5 years old, I shot my first "real" pictures on this manual SLR camera…dad and I were vacationing at the Orlando World Center and he handed me this camera to take some pics of him by the pool and they turned out great! Little did we know where this love of photography would lead. It's now a part of EHP history and he retired it on Monday evening and handed it over to me for posterity. 🙂 Thanks dad!!

Also, I wanted to congratulate him on another big win in an ND uniform!!! 😀 He played in the first ever ND vs. Penn State Fantasy Bowl game last Friday evening and helped lead the team to victory…16 to 15!
