July 2009

Hey everyone! We’re back from vacation and catching up on the blog today…lots of new pics!! YAY! 🙂

On June 14th, we photographed Angela & Mike’s trash the dress session in downtown Indy & Plainfield. I was SUPER excited for this shoot…it has been 3 years in the making, seriously. Three years ago, Angela called us to shoot her wedding but unfortunately, we were already booked for her popular wedding date. Fast forward to their wedding day – they ended up really disappointed in the other photographer they booked for their wedding (the lady fell asleep at their wedding, I kid you NOT!) :O so yeah, needless to say, they were still in need of some amazing images in their wedding attire, so Angela contacted us about shooting her trash the dress session!! 🙂

These are some of my all time favorite pics from their shoot…the lighting was amazing, they looked amazing, the weather turned out to be amazing…LOVED it!

Mike works on Harleys so we were able to incorporate their bike into some pics…

I think my favorite thing about this shoot is that Angela totally trusted us 200%. When we talked about different locations to shoot downtown, she said she wanted the urban/chic look with some nature/water pics at the end, other than that, it was up to us. There are so many times that I drive around downtown Indy and find a random spot and think “that would make a cool photo location” but the spot is only good for a few cool shots, not an entire shoot. So I asked her if she was up for stopping wherever I wanted to shoot the whole day…kind of a new concept…we just randomly drove around downtown and stopped whenever we found one of those neat spots…I think more and more people are going to want to do this “wandering” approach now. Check out my favorites from our downtown travels!!

One of my all time favorites….yeah, I went there… 🙂

Another all time fave!!

And another…lol…loved her expression!

I’ve always wanted to shoot at this wall…reminds me of the Dolphin Pavilion at the zoo!

Looks like he’s saying “Whatcha doin’?”

GORGEOUS!! Angela is sooooo pretty, she should model, shouldn’t she?! Those eye are AMAZING!

Then we headed down to Mass Ave to find some cool spots around the alleys…

Then headed to Plainfield for her water shots…she looks so “Country girl goes Hollywood” here 🙂

LOVED IT!

You gotta love a girl who brings cute rain boots with her to her shoot! 🙂

She got a good catch! 🙂

Water fight!!

Thanks for a fun time you guys! More pics coming soon! 🙂

On 6/13, we photographed James & Ashley’s COLORFUL & FUN wedding in Carmel and we had a blast!!!! Ashley told me ahead of time that she was planning on using turquoise and yellow for her wedding colors – who would’ve thought my fabulous yellow & white polka dot shootsac cover would match her theme so perfectly and end up as a backdrop for that cute ring shot?! 🙂 I knew we were going to have fun shooting a ton of awesome, colorful detail shots that day…check out these fabulous shoes!!

Isn’t this sweet?!

Her garter & matching purse…

Reading the vows one more time…

They got married at Centennial Bible Church…loved the sign out front 🙂

Here’s our handsome groom, James…loved his tie & boutonniere by the way!

Who says the bride has to be the only one with the “bling” shots on her wedding day?! 🙂 Isn’t this FUN?!

Her hair & make-up looked AMAZING…Karen Hall & Company came to Ashley & her girls at the Renaissance that morning. They did a fantastic job!

Of course, I LOVED her bouquet too!! Chuck from Indy Floral Design really outdid himself…WOW!

BUBBLES!!

H-O-T!

After the church pics, we went to Main Street in Carmel for some fun, artsy shots around the Design District. I love shooting over there, it’s so cool!!

Their reception was at the Ritz Charles….LOVE working there!! Check out the AMAZING cake they designed for them! Wow! It’s so fun & whimsical and really incorporates her colors and style perfectly!

They even had a candy buffet set up – in their wedding colors of course! 😉

As you can see, we got to work with the amazing April Foster again & everything went off without a hitch! 🙂

Most of you know Karen Sutton from Holy Cow, Cupcakes as the cupcake expert but did you know she can also make incredible bon bons?!? OMG These were AMAZING favors!!!

And of course it deserved another cool ring shot!

Ashley had these “cootie catchers” at the reception – so fun!!

Love me some dramatic lighting!!! 🙂 We worked with Chris Burger from Copper Moon Entertainment that night…he was fabulous! Definitely knew how to read the crowd well & he is such a nice guy!

Loved the orchid centerpieces!

Thanks for a great time you guys!! Hope you had a blast in Bora Bora!! 🙂 More pics coming soon!

On 6/7, we hosted our first Portrait Marathon Day at Holcomb Gardens…it was crazy but fun!! We photographed 19 adults, 6 kids, 5 dogs and a parrot all within about 7 hours I think!? 🙂 Here are some of my favorites from the day….we started out with Melissa, Patrick and their kiddos….

We did this shot with Jackson last year, it’s amazing to see how much he’s grown in a year! WOW

Maddie danced on her daddy’s feet for a few photos…. 🙂

Then we photographed Erika Gregory, owner of e-vents:a wedding and event planning boutique…she needed some fresh new fabulous head shots for her website, blog & facebook profile! 🙂

Then another one of my photographers, Nichole, came out to Holcomb with her hubby & daughter for some new family photos. Alaina has SUCH an adorable personality and is full of expressions which made it fun for us!

Then we had the opportunity to shoot Elizabeth & Ryan’s engagement session, they were soooo cute together!!

Then my friend Chuck of Indy Floral Design stopped by with his parrot, Reggie….this was Reggie’s first photo shoot and he looked a bit perplexed when he saw his reflection in my camera! LOL Isn’t he beautiful!?

Then we shot Jessica & Rod with their 2 dogs, Caroline and Mario!

I love doing this shot…someone always gets a “lick bath” out of it! LOL

Mario thought he’d just watch mom & dad kiss instead…

Then my uncle and his family came out for a few quick photos…this is my adorable cousin Anna!

Such a cute family!! 🙂

Then Deborah and Cassie Bowman of A Touch of Elegance stopped by with their husbands for some fun group shots, couples shots and individual photos…as you can see, they were up for anything…I love that! 🙂

SO cute!!

And last but not least, this adorably hot couple, Lauren & John stopped by for their engagement session at the end of the day! Isn’t Lauren gorgeous?! We photographed her mom’s head shots & her brother’s senior pics so of course we had to shoot their engagement pics!! 🙂

They brought their lovable dog, Noodle with them…

She was so thirsty by the end of her shoot…it’s hard being a model! 😉

I’m sooooo thankful that they brought Noodle with them to their shoot…we just found out today that Noodle passed away last week after being hit by a car. 🙁 Isn’t that sad?! 🙁 I highly encourage all of our clients to incorporate their pets in their photo shoots (or even book a photo shoot just for their pets!) because you just never know how long they’ll be with you. Now Lauren & John have hundreds of awesome pics of them and their sweet puppy together that they’ll always cherish!! 🙂

On 6/6, we photographed Cassie & Chase’s beautiful wedding at Meridian Street United Methodist Church and their reception at the Dolphin Pavilion! It was such a perfect day outside, check out the cool infrared shot I got through the church window!

Cassie & her girls were getting ready downstairs and while Diana and I were walking around shooting details, I noticed this can of hairspray called “Rockaholic” which was just screaming for a cool ring shot! 😉

Our handsome groom Chase…looking very GQ here…. 🙂

And our beautiful bride Cassie…she has the funniest sense of humor and had us all cracking up all day! We love your personality Cassie, it totally shows in your pics! 🙂

They had monogrammed “P’s” for their new last name, I thought that was a neat idea! Everything went off without a hitch thanks to their super fabulous coordinator, April Foster!!

My sexy husband crawled down the aisle for some awesome shots! 🙂

Cassie gave us this airplane for a ring shot since Chase works on airplanes for a living…well, we decided to use the prop for a cool ceremony shot too. Nice shot John!! 🙂

Yay!!

LOVE IT!! The sun was perfect, their “modelesque” poses were perfect, her veil was perfect, the colors were perfect…you ladies look like you belong in a magazine, seriously!! Kathy’s Kloset provided those super fab bouquets by the way, aren’t they great?!

The light was sooooo perfect outside that evening!

Loved her cake! They hired the Cake Connection…great detail work!

As you can see, we got to work with Bob Ridge from IndyVisual that evening! We love working with Bob, he’s so cool! 🙂 Check out their video preview on his blog by clicking HERE!

Sweet moment during their first dance…

And of course we had to shoot in the dolphin rotunda!! This definitely tops my list of coolest places to shoot!! 🙂

See the dolphins in the background? They stopped by and posed for us too! 🙂

Cassie loves to dance!! 🙂

Thanks for a great time you guys!! (And thanks for your sweet comments on the A-List!) 🙂 More pics coming soon!!

Happy 4th of July everyone!! 🙂 What a crazy month it’s been!! I can’t tell you all how glad I am to see July get here…I don’t think I’ve EVER been almost a month behind in blogging but to say June was crazy would be an understatement. For those of you who follow us on Facebook, you already know a lot of what happened but just to give you an idea of our month, here it goes….let’s see…it started with the hail storm at the beginning of the month…in a mere few minutes, we had almost $20,000 worth of damage to our home…holes in our siding, our roof took a beating, window screens looked like golf balls went through them…our back porch needs to be gutted pretty much, it was a mess.

Then the day after that happened, my glasses broke in half…yeah, it’s kinda hard to work if you can’t see! LOL So my eye doctor called in a rush order but then ordered the wrong frames so there were multiple trips all over town to get that mess fixed. Then a few days later, we started hearing this bubbling sound coming from our toilets. (By then, I’m thinking “what now?!” LOL) and sure enough, we woke up the next morning to our house flooded. Sometime in the middle of the night, the washer line backed up and water and sludge ended up all over our laundry room floor, entryway floor, living room carpet and it even made its way through the walls and into our home office. It was disgusting!! We called a plumber and they fixed whatever happened but then we had to call the flood restoration people after that…can I just say the guys at Smith Mathis are AWESOME?! OMG They soaked up all of the water, helped move furniture and brought in huge commercial fans to dry the carpet and drywall and they were so nice to work with. If anyone ever has to go through that, I would totally recommend them!

So yeah, we got that whole mess cleaned up, meanwhile we have contractors, insurance people and roofers knocking on our door almost every day trying to get our business for fixing all of the hail damage. These people came out of the woodwork almost immediately! One company even had a whole team of trucks and salespeople going door to door, it was nuts. A few days after that, we were getting ready to pack up for a wedding and our power went out during more strong storms. (What was up with all of the rain in June?!?!) So we sat in the dark waiting for it to come back on and making back up plans for the next morning in case we had no power when we woke up. Luckily it all finally came back on in time! In the midst of all of that, we had 15 photo shoots (weddings & portraits) and a bridal show to coordinate in the month of June.

Since I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason though, I’ve tried to focus on the positives that came out of the craziness….we’re getting a brand new roof for FREE…new siding…new screens…new porch flooring…I got new glasses that I LOVE…John & I got to spend the night at the new Hotel Indigo while our carpet & drywall dried out overnight…the bridal show was a complete success…we were nominated for the A-List again and we had a lot of awesome photo shoots throughout the entire month of June that are begging to be blogged now! LOL

So please continue to be patient with me while I attempt to catch up with about a month’s worth of editing events, blogging, etc. John & I are going on a much needed vacation soon but all of our June clients will be receiving a gift card for some FREE reprints since you’ve waited much longer than usual to see your previews & pics. 😉 With that said, we hope everyone has a great holiday today and HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!!!!!!!!! (Above pic taken at last night’s wedding….yep, they had fireworks during the reception, isn’t that awesome?!) 🙂
