1.      How did he propose? “On Christmas Day, Jerry’s 3 kids surprised me one at a time with letters describing why they love me. Then Jerry got down on one knee and proposed. I didn’t expect it at all that day, and I had never seen him look so nervous. It was adorable.”

2.      What were your favorite wedding moments? “After much discussion, we’ve realized it’s impossible for us to pick one moment as our favorite. It was amazing to have all of the most important people in our lives in one room celebrating together. Every little moment added up to our perfect day. I loved dancing the night away with family and friends. Jerry loved when I surprised him with a Yankees garter belt. We both loved receiving the folio from Erin at the end of the night. It was a huge surprise and so beautiful.”

3.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “The funniest moment was the end of the night with our maid of honor and best man. We were all trying to get the perfect Erin Hession “sparkler” picture. After hours of dancing and partying, the simple directions weren’t so easy to follow, and we still laugh thinking about the shenanigans that ensued.” 🙂

4.      What was your first dance song? “Our first dance was to a version of “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur sung by Jerry’s gorgeous sister. It was absolutely flawless and meant so much more because Anita sang it for us.”

5.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? “For our honeymoon, we went to a resort in the Dominican Republic. Beautiful weather, beach, pools, and dancing made for a much needed relaxing vacation.”

6.      What advice would you give to future brides? “Many people told us to enjoy the wedding day because it comes and goes in a flash, and they were absolutely right. Enjoy every moment to the fullest, even when things aren’t going as expected. You can never get those moments back!”

On 8/12, we photographed Angie & Nate’s fun wedding!

1.      How did he propose? “Last year we celebrated our Christmas together before Christmas because we would be out of town visiting family on Christmas. Nate insisted I open my gift from him first while he waited. He’d wrapped a huge box, and when I opened it, I found a smaller box inside with a note. He wrapped several boxes inside other ones, leaving notes and drawings in each box. One note even read, “I want you to know how much I love you, but there is not a ring inside this box.” When I finally opened the smallest box, it was empty except for a post-it note that read, “You should turn around now.” When I did, he got down on one knee and proposed – with a ring from his pocket, not any of the boxes.” 🙂

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “This is a tough question! Probably when we walked up the aisle after the ceremony. We were officially married, and it was wonderful to see so many of our friends and family so joyful with us. The toasts were also beyond our expectations, and it was so much fun to see our friends and family – especially parents and nephews – tear up the dance floor.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment? “His brother’s toast! He was not prepared for it at all. It made us laugh and cry, and it even rhymed!”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “When our priest had to (gently) remind Nate to repeat after him for the vows because Nate initially didn’t respond. When it was my turn, then, the priest kindly emphasized actually repeating after him. Our priest definitely had a sense of humor we could appreciate.”

5.      What was your first dance song? “Ain’t That A Kick In the Head by Dean Martin. We had fun trying to fox trot to it!”

6.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? “We went to Mackinac Island, and we stayed at an Inn on Main Street. We explored the island via bicycle, and we enjoyed great meals and desserts. Our favorite activity was a sunset boat cruise, which took us directly under the Mackinac Bridge. It was a peaceful and relaxing vacation after all of the wedding planning.”

7.      What advice would you give to future brides? “Figure out, together, what the most important thing is for each of you with your wedding. It’s a celebration for the two of you, so the event you host should reflect both of you. From there, everything else (really) will fall into place. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help, both from your future spouse, family, friends, and especially industry experts. And when the big day arrives, relax, and enjoy every single moment! Between getting ready, vows, eating, and lots of photos, take a moment with your new spouse to just experience your wedding day and the first day of your marriage. It’s magical.”

On 7/29, we photographed Sarah & Mike’s fun wedding! This sweet couple is from Chicago so of course, they incorporated their beloved city into the decor and I loved it!! (Check out those awesome centerpieces that Mike created – WOW!!)

1.      How did he propose? “Mike had Sarah follow a poem which lead her to the Chicago Riverwalk, which is where he proposed to her.”

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite wedding moment was seeing Mike for the first time during our private moment.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment? “Mike says ‘ditto’ for his favorite moment.”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “One of funniest wedding moments was all three of my cousins and my uncle busting out the dance moves in sequence. Another funny moment was my uncle and cousin running around Mike and me for 3 minutes with sparklers and then asking them to do it again for Erin’s signature sparkler picture!”

5.      What was your first dance song? “Our first dance song was “Falling in Love with You” by Elvis Presley featured sung by Hailey Reinhart”

6.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? ” For our honeymoon we went to London, Scotland, and Ireland for 2 weeks.”

7.      What advice would you give to future brides? “I would recommend having Erin be your photographer and using her detailed schedule (It worked out perfect).  We were so happy we did our private moment together and took all of our formal wedding pictures before the ceremony.  We really were able to enjoy our wedding day.”

How did he propose? “He proposed on Valentine’s day.  He’s always talked about how Valentine’s day is a Hallmark holiday and he does’t really like it.  The weekend before Valentine’s Day we went to Georgetown, KY to visit his best friend’s family and I had kind of thought he would propose there.  When he didn’t, I figured it wouldn’t happen for a while.  On Valentine’s day we made dinner together and he rushed me out of the kitchen and told me I could do the dishes later.  He hugged me and being the blunt person I am, I said “What is wrong with you? Why is your heart beating so fast?”  He proposed after that and I don’t really remember exactly what he said because I was so caught off guard.  I asked if my parents knew and he said my dad did and I said “well then we have to go see my mom” (they just live about 3 mins away).  He had also bought an ice cream cake earlier that day so he got it out and we went to my parents house and had ice cream cake and celebrated. “

What was your favorite wedding moment? “There are so many, it’s hard to decide.  I would have to say the time we spent taking pictures or walking down the aisle, seeing all my friends and family watching and Tristan at the end of the aisle.  I also loved having my dog, Charlotte be a part of the whole day.  She made it so special for both of us and letting her out the door and seeing her turn and run down the aisle and greet everyone was so sweet!  Also the music played by the band during the ceremony was perfect and exactly what I dreamed it would be!”

What was his favorite wedding moment? “He agreed there were a few.  He enjoyed our first look and our pictures together, seeing the flower girls (our nieces) walk down the aisle together, and saying our vows.”

What was the funniest wedding moment? “About 15 minutes before the ceremony, the police contacted the owner of the venue and told him they were sending officers out with their sirens on because there was an elderly couple lost in the woods and all they would tell them was they were in a Christmas tree farm and when they located their cell phone, they knew it was on the property.  The owner said, “No you cannot send police out here with their sirens on, I have a big wedding starting in 15 minutes, I will go find them.”  Of course we didn’t know about this until later that night, but we all had a good laugh and several people did say they heard sirens before the wedding started.”

What was your first dance song? “Let It Be Me” by Ray LaMontagne

Where did you go on your honeymoon? “We went to Saugatuck, Michigan and stayed at the most amazing luxury bed and breakfast called The Hotel Saugatuck https://www.thehotelsaugatuck.com/.  We stayed in one of the cottage suites and we didn’t want to leave! They had hydrosilk tubs in all the rooms and delivered breakfast every morning and a gourmet dessert every night.”

What advice would you give future brides? “Just be in the moment!  Try to take everything in.  Don’t worry about the little things and focus on what is important.  It goes by so fast and you can never have that time again, so try to really remember it and be present in what is going on!  Something will go wrong and not everything will go as planned, trust that other people can and will pick up the pieces to make it perfect and the day will turn out exactly how it is meant to be for you and your new husband!”
