Tip of the day – make sure you hire a professional make-up artist for your wedding day. The difference is night & day in pictures and they’re worth the extra $150-$200 you’ll usually spend on a good one. Finding someone that is trained in make-up for brides and commercial modeling is the best idea because they know how to airbrush or shade your face the proper way for better use of lighting in pictures. Another good idea is to find someone who comes to you that day so that you’re not stuck running to a salon…the artist we highly recommend is Karen Hall & Company. Her website is www.karenhallandco.com Not only does she specialize in models, brides and artistic performers but she is an educator and trains other national make-up artists and has the latest technology in airbrush make-up, plus she & her staff come to you on the day of your wedding!

This couple had a fabulous wedding & reception despite the crazy weather that morning! The flowers were gorgeous and the tented reception was amazing…cigars on every table…custom-made wine bottles that doubled as table cards…chilled water for the guests (outdoor ceremony)…and the band was actually an orchestra hired in from Chicago…Wolfgang Puck catered. Everything was so beautiful!

Five years ago, we tested an image hosting provider that would allow us to post images online and allow guests to view, e-mail and purchase reprints from different events we’ve photographed. It’s amazing to me how much has changed since then. We actually quit using the service early on because at the time, we were TOO advanced and we were hearing things like “My grandma doesn’t have internet service” or “I don’t even have an e-mail address” and now, the world has totally changed. Not only are brides even more savvy today than 5 years ago, but their families are as well…now, I have friends and family that approach us at receptions and ask when the images will be posted online and if we’ll post a link in the bride & groom’s wedding website. Pretty cool! So, if you want to check out what one of our events looks like online, go to www.sendtoprint.net and type in the event code: Dittmer
