Most of you know John, my awesome online marketing guru husband, but some of you may not know that he owns InspireMedia, a web development company here in Indy that specializes in custom web design, branding, blog development, SEO, SEM, online reputation monitoring, email marketing, social media, etc, etc etc. He does it all! 🙂 He not only created this fabulous blog but you’ll also probably recognize the work that he’s done for FC Tucker, Beach Bum Vacation, Classic Cakes (new site coming soon), Shoot Fore Sammi, Meridian Floral Design & Events, A Touch of Elegance, Tyler Mason, Employment Source, among several others!

I often receive emails from other photographers and vendors asking about our marketing strategies and how they can implement similar principles, ideas and promotions into their businesses to help them grow, so I wanted to blog about some exciting new things that John & I are creating for business owners (in any industry) who are serious about growing their business and really taking it to the next level.

He & I are teaming up to develop a series of Marketing Intensive classes that will focus on various subjects within the broad spectrum of marketing. The first class will focus on “Creating an Online Marketing Plan that Works” and it’ll be held on Thursday, 6/3/10 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at my office. We’ve reserved the board room for the afternoon so we only have 10 seats available for the workshop! The cost is only $299 for this 3 hour event, however, if you register before this Sunday (5/24/10) the cost is only $249. John is also offering a freebie for the early bird registrations…you may choose to receive either a free website review of your existing site OR a free search engine optimization report! (Both valued at $99)

I am also offering a freebie for our early birds!! Since I will be there to give my input on some of his topics, I plan to bring my camera along and shoot free head shots for any business owner in attendance so that you’ll have a brand new, fully edited photo of yourself to put on any of the social media sites (facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, etc) or your website after the workshop! (And yes, when I say “fully edited” that means I’ll retouch any wrinkles & make you skinny if you’re worried about any of that!) 😉

Last Friday afternoon, I had the honor of photographing the season finale of the Extreme Home Makeover event here in Indy! I was so excited to have the opportunity to provide pictures for Estridge, the media and the McFarland family…it was such an exciting event!!

My dad came with me to assist that afternoon since John had to work…he was a great assistant! (Thanks dad!) 🙂

Our first stop was the VIP tent to get pictures of the people, food, logos, signage, auction items, etc….

The idea that a house can be built in a WEEK is still something that is hard to comprehend…it was SO amazing to watch it all come together so quickly!

Here’s dad posing for a quick shot with the builder, Paul Estridge…

Back to work… 🙂

My friends Chelsea and Wendy of CW Photography were also there so dad got these quick shots of us together in front of the new house…

(Left to right: Chelsea, me, Wendy) 🙂 …and all 3 of us being goof balls…yeah, I wasn’t feeling the hard hat – it got attached to my Shootsac quickly! 😉

Right after dad handed the camera back to me, the crowd went WILD and I turned around and saw Ty Pennington coming right towards me! 😀

I bet all of the ladies were wishing they were me at that moment! LOL!

Here’s a shot of the resource library that they built right next to the new house…

And we headed to the backyard to take some pics of the volunteers working on the landscaping & the putting green!

Wendy took this shot of me & dad together in the backyard of the house – loved it!! (Thanks Wendy!!) 🙂

Then I took one Wendy & Chelsea together for their website/blog…. 🙂

Then all of us got kicked out by security…LOL…yes, I’m not kidding. They accidentally gave us media passes instead of Estridge passes and apparently media wasn’t allowed in the backyard. We were able to convince them that we truly weren’t paparazzi in the backyard and they let us go. Pretty funny, huh?! Anyway, we decided the front yard would still be safer since the key hand off was scheduled to happen around 2 p.m. anyway. Instead, Paige came walking up the street to do some interviews & TV footage!

I LOVE this shot of her!! Of course, I also love her line of PINK work tools!! Click here to check it out…Paige actually created a line called Tuff Chix, which shows you can be fashionable and still wear durable construction gear…she’s like the Jessica Claire of the remodeling business, love it! 🙂

There were quite a few adorable onlookers….

And my friend, Karen Sutton (owner of Holy Cow Cupcakes) was also part of the event! She provided her delicious cupcakes for the crew & volunteers last week!

Here’s the house…nearly completed!

They just had to finish up the yard…

I love this shot of dad & his hard hat!

Michael made an appearance while I was shooting too!

No peeking!! LOL 🙂

I love this!!

Doesn’t Mr. Estridge have the best smile & laugh?! What a great guy! It’s so nice to see the spirit of giving and volunteerism emerge throughout this project and beyond. The city of Indianapolis is better off because of his contributions…

Even the security people were taking pictures! LOL

Right before my shift ended, they repaved the road in front of the house…

Then the volunteers began moving in bags and bags of home decor!

I read on The Indy Channel’s website this morning that Butler University gave all 3 boys full ride scholarships to Butler, that is so fantastic!!

Thank you to all of you who helped make this a successful project! Make sure you tune in on May 17th to watch the season finale….I know John & I will be watching…5/17 is our wedding anniversary, so we’ll be tuned in after a celebratory dinner for sure! 🙂

P.S. If you’d like to view all of the images from our photo shoot, go to www.sendtoprint.net and type in this event code: EHMOIndy (all 1 word) Enjoy!

Last Sunday we photographed our 1st Karen Hall & Co. class photo shoot of 2009…the coolest thing about this particular class was that all of the models were previous clients of ours in some capacity!! We photographed Serena’s senior pics last fall (above model)….isn’t she gorgeous?! And here’s Tenille, another previous client of ours, who is now a famous model for Target and one of the TV shopping networks! 🙂

I don’t think Serena ever takes a bad picture! LOL After some casual looks, we went for a soft rose petal look with her…

Deborah, a new wedding coordinator in Indy, came in for a few quick head shots for her new website…I can’t wait to work with her & collaborate on some weddings together!

Tenille’s 2nd look was a hair & make-up “beauty” look…

I think I like the black & white one the best though, what do you think? 🙂 She’s so pretty!!

Tiffany’s first look was casual, to show off her fab hair & natural looking make-up!!

Serena’s 3rd look was a fun “hot for teacher” type of look…lol…

She pulled off this look perfectly!!

Tenille’s 3rd look was a commercial “Oil of Olay” style of look…we like our models to have a lot of variety in their portfolios and to really show off what they can do so sometimes we throw in some “action” looks like this…she did a fantastic job making this look pretty!

Tiffany’s 2nd look was an orange & pink look to accentuate her gorgeous eyes & lips!!

And her last look was my favorite for the day! This was her “steamboat punk” look and the funniest part was that after the shoot was over, she got pulled over by a cop on her way home!! LOL!! I bet he was afraid to write her a ticket?! 🙂

She pulled off this look perfectly too!!

Thanks everyone for a great time that day, more pics coming soon!! 🙂

“WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Erin Hession Photography has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awardsâ„¢!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Erin Hession Photography is one of the very best in wedding photography.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

Thank you to all of our friends, family, clients & colleagues for making 2008 another great year for all of us at Erin Hession Photography! Merry Christmas! 🙂
