Wedding

We photographed this sweet couple’s gorgeous Winter wedding last month at St. John’s & the Omni Severin! I loved all of their beautiful details…her dress, custom hanger, jewelry, sparkly shoes, flowers, decor, cake, venues, uplighting, everything was absolutely flawless!! Not to mention, the weather was PERFECT for outdoor photos that day! 🙂 They got soooo lucky!! The bridal suite that Victoria got ready in overlooked the church and Lucas Oil Stadium which was pretty cool too so we even got to take some outdoor photos on the back patio with all of the ladies. We did their first look at the Omni and then started on group photos and I thought these two had modeled before or something because they both were so great in front of the camera. After we completed photos at the hotel, we stopped by Monument Circle for more pics and then headed to the church where it was beautifully decorated for Christmas! Loved that!! Pete finished off the ceremony with a dip & kiss (so cute) and then we took more group shots and then headed back to the Omni for the reception. Everyone had a great time toasting and dancing the night away with the happy couple. Victoria & Pete surprised everyone with not only late night snacks but also light up glow sticks and large bags of Albanese Candy & popcorn! It definitely made for some fun candids and ring shots!! Thanks for a fun time you guys! 🙂

In her words…

1.      How did he propose?

“Pete and I met on the first day of medical school so he planned the sweetest proposal on campus.  In April of our 4th year of medical school, we were planning a trip to Wisconsin to pick out our new home.  On that day, as we were walking off campus, he proposed outside the building that we had met in.  We then had the best weekend in Wisconsin picking out our first home together and when we got back to Indianapolis I walked into a surprise engagement party with our families and friends.  He pulled off two huge surprises and made it more special than I could have ever imagined. ”

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment?

“In the middle of the reception, we snuck away to change our shoes.  It was such a special private moment where we were able to talk alone and really reflect on the day together.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment?

“When we were introduced as husband and wife for the first time at the reception!”

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment?

“The extra kiss at the beginning of the ceremony!!  When my dad gave me away, Pete greeted me with a kiss.  I initially shied away thinking that we weren’t supposed to kiss yet which made it even funnier. Our priest then followed this up by saying ‘whatever works’.” LOL! 🙂

5.      What was your first dance song?

“You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry & the Pacemakers.  Pete is a huge Liverpool fan so this song was really special for us.”

6.      What advice would you give to future couples?

“The point of the day is to be married and that requires very little – so don’t worry about all of the little details.  Things will fall into place and at the end of the day you will have a spouse!”

We photographed this sweet couple’s awesome African themed wedding and we had a blast with them that day!! Tanja and I actually met at her friend Sierra’s wedding over 10 years ago! She saw us in action that day and knew that she wanted to have us as her photography team once she found her Prince Charming! 🙂 As soon as she got engaged, she called me and I was so excited for her!! I knew Jeremy was a keeper, especially when I saw how he looked at her all day long. They are SO adorably cute together!!

One of my favorite movies as a child was “Coming to America”….not only did I think it was hilarious but I loved the beautiful details in the African wedding scene. When Tanja said that she was going for an African wedding theme, I saw her vision immediately and was SO excited to shoot their details, I knew it would be colorful and beautiful! 🙂 Her details were definitely gorgeous!! I loved her sparkly shoes & accessories, the bright blue African suits & dresses, the gold room that she got ready in, her beautiful hair & make-up, the custom “Mr & Mrs” head table, uplighting, the African photos and drums & their cake!! Some of their relatives even choreographed a special African dance for them to start the party and it was a huge hit! Thanks for a great time you guys, more pics coming soon!

In her words…

1.      How did he propose? “He proposed on Christmas day at brunch with our families all standing around as the prayer turned into a full on proposal!”

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite moment at our wedding was towards the end of the night my new hubby and I were dancing and singing with family and friends when we turned around to see Erin bringing us a sneak peek of our beautiful wedding photos!” (awwww) 🙂 Love it!!

3.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “The funniest moment of the night was trying to stay still and not laugh out loud as the 2 groomsmen ran around us while tipsy and winded to capture a beautiful Cinderella sparkler photo!!”

4.      What was your first dance song? “All of Me by John Legend”

5.      What advice would you give to future couples? “Get Erin and her team on your team and you will have no choice but to have your mind put at ease that you will be taken care of.” (Awww thank you!!) 🙂

6.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? “Jamaica, Montego Bay”

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding & reception at the Mavris and we had so much fun with them that day! I just adore them…not only are they super cute together but they were both so much fun and up for anything when it came to getting great photos!! 🙂 Her dress was gorgeous and I LOVED her bridal tennis shoes with custom laces, how cute is that?! Their flowers were STUNNING that day, I couldn’t get over how gorgeous they looked. Plus, I was so excited to shoot at the brand new butterfly art wall across from the Alexander, I knew those pics would be so much fun and canvas-worthy for sure!

After we took some outdoor photos, we headed inside for photos in the Alexander’s art gallery, lobby & bar area. It’s such a fun, unique & artistic hotel that is PERFECT for indoor photo shoots!! After we finished up there, we headed down to Mavris and outran the rain for some more photos under the bridge & in the courtyard before we headed inside for family photos. Their private ceremony was so sweet and I loved that they wrote their own vows to each other! I loved all of their gorgeous reception details too…the dog cake topper, dog cut outs, flowers, uplighting & cake were beautiful! Once the dancing started, we sneaked them away for some end of night shots around Mavris that turned out awesome! Thanks for a great time you guys! More pics coming soon!

In their words…

1. How did he propose? “I had a feeling Jake was going to propose when he told me not to make plans because he made dinner reservations. I was not expecting to come home from work that day to rose petals leading upstairs to our living room! He had blacked out all of the windows with special fabric so that the little tea lights he got would light the way with the petals. When I got to the top of the stairs, he was waiting with the ring, champagne, and candles that spelled out “Marry me.” I found out later that he took the day off to get the house ready even though he had “left for work” before me that morning and texted me during the day as if he was there.”

2.      What was your favorite wedding moment? “We had a private ceremony and I really felt the love between us as we read our own vows to each other. I didn’t expect to feel so emotional but the ceremony felt personal and perfect.”

3.      What was his favorite wedding moment? “Standing up in front of close friends and family and looking into Kelsey’s eyes as we said our vows was something that I will never forget.” (awwww) 🙂

4.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “When the night got a little later, guests enjoyed dancing with the cardboard cut-outs of our dogs and posing for pictures with them!”

5.      What was your first dance song? “All of Me” by Jasmine Thompson (John Legend cover)

6.      What advice would you give to future couples? “Don’t sweat the small stuff because it’s about the big picture, not the tiny details. Make your ceremony personal and write your own vows. Make sure you hire great vendors because it makes a difference! We recorded the ceremony on an iPhone with a tripod I got off of Amazon and it was cost effective and priceless to have! Also… our cardboard cut-outs of our dogs that I ordered from Etsy were a big hit!”

7.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? “Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! We left the next morning and it was so relaxing and beautiful.”

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding at Canal 337 last month and I just love these guys, they have such a fun and loving energy about them AND they’re so adorably cute together! I was soooo looking forward to their wedding, I knew it would be awesome and it WAS! All of their details were so perfect and it was such a beautiful day outside, we got some great shots of them around the canal and the venue, we had so much fun!! 🙂 The most memorable part though was feeling SO much love that they share between each other and that all of their friends and families have for them, it was such a special moment to witness and something I’ll never forget.

I also loved their Fall decor/flowers, their custom guest book sign in mat, their fun pom-pom entrance, their cupcake display & the sparkler exit with the surprise antique car at the end of the night! To top it off, they also had matching rainbow socks (adorable!) AND photo cut outs of their dogs from their engagement session that we did a few weeks before their wedding! It was such a unique touch to personalize their wedding and include their puppies in the photos!! 🙂 LOVED IT! Thanks for a great time you guys, lots more pics coming soon!

In their words…

1.      What was Kevin’s favorite wedding moment? “I loved our pom-pom entrance into the cocktail hour right after our wedding! It was a fun way to join the happy, cheering crowd of our loved ones and to celebrate with them right after the ceremony. There was just a really fun, happy energy that everyone had, and it felt really good to walk in and feel that happiness from everyone.” 🙂

2.      What was James’ favorite wedding moment? “When our officiant had us turn to face the audience before reading our vows. She included our guests into the ceremony by asking them if they’d give us their continued friendship and support in our marriage, and everyone gave a resounding “we will!” It was so amazing to think of the diversity in that room supporting Kevin and I, a same-sex couple, getting married. That moment will remain in my memory for a very long time, it was epic.” (I agree!) 🙂

3.      What was the funniest wedding moment? “We really liked seeing the photos and videos that people did in the photo booth at our reception! We got a lot of laughs from that. One long-time friend in particular–we won’t name names 😉 –probably had a bit to drink before entering the photo booth. She was looking at what she thought was the camera, and ended up leaving us a funny video message with only the lower half of her face in the frame. We really cracked up when we got to that video!”

4.      What was your first dance song? “When You Say Nothing At All” by Ronan Keating

5.      What advice would you give to future couples? “We approached our wedding with the philosophy of “tradition is peer pressure from dead people,” and we picked and chose where we wanted to be traditional in our ceremony and where we wanted to do our own thing. It worked out amazingly well, and we never felt guilt or obligation over what we “should” be doing. We think that’s good advice for your wedding and your life: figure out what you and your spouse value and what’s best for you. Live your life according to that, not according to what other people expect from you.” (BEST. ADVICE. EVER!) 🙂

6.      Where did you go on your honeymoon? “We did a self-driving tour of Scotland so we could experience a lot of the country. We did a broad range of activities from visiting a small family farm in a remote village to going to the theatre in Edinburgh.”

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding last month at Cornerstone Lutheran Church & their reception was at D’Amore! When Lauren’s bridal crew walked into the church holding a bag that said “Kleinfeld Bridal” on it, I knew her dress would be stunning and it WAS!! 🙂 (Shout out to my fellow “Say Yes to the Dress” fans!!) 😉 Lauren & Josh are so adorably cute together, they were so much fun to photograph and their friends and family members were so sweet too!! I just loved all of their details that day…the flowers, ombre cake, donut hole wall, uplighting, favors and late night snacks were all a huge hit! They also had a unique sign in display, they had Jenga pieces that guests could sign on as their guest book, it was such a neat idea. The weather was beautiful and we got lucky with a GORGEOUS D’Amore sunset, it doesn’t get much better than that!! Thanks for a great time you guys!! More pics coming soon! 🙂

 In her words…

1. How did he propose?

Josh and I planned a trip to Las Vegas and Arizona in March of 2018. We had driven to the Grand Canyon and planned on spending the day hiking and exploring the canyon but it was unseasonably cold and snowing pretty hard. We quickly changed plans after realizing that we had not packed enough warm clothes. The two of us walked up to Mather Point (a lookout spot) and were enjoying what we could see of the Grand Canyon through the fog and snow. I had turned around to ask Josh if we should take a quick picture together before heading back to the warm car when I saw Josh down on one knee. Of course I said yes!

2. What was your favorite wedding moment?
My favorite moment was our first kiss as husband and wife and then walking back down the aisle together to see all our friends and family with big smiles on their faces.

3. What was his favorite wedding moment?
Josh’s favorite moment was our first dance. He liked our spin and dip move and thought it was a nice few minutes for us to focus on each other.

4. What was the funniest wedding moment?
My cousin’s son Luc had some awesome dance moves and incredible energy on the dance floor! Everyone thought he was hilarious!

5. What was your first dance song?
I’m With You by Vance Joy

6. What advice would you give to future couples?
Everyone told me this ahead of time but slow down and enjoy the day because it goes by so fast!! Josh and I both tried to savor each moment but even so the day goes by in a blur.

7. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We went to Maui and loved it! 🙂
