Wedding

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding last weekend at the Lincoln Park Gazebo in Zionsville! Their original wedding plans took a turn when COVID hit, but that didn’t stop them from having a gorgeous ceremony at the spot where Jacob proposed to her, so it all worked out perfectly! PLUS, we get to see them again next year for their vow renewal and huge party! 🙂 Yay! We actually photographed Nicole’s sister’s wedding 2 years ago and we love her whole family, I’m so glad that everything worked out and that they still got to have an amazing wedding on their original wedding date.

They also had SO many gorgeous details for us to photograph, several of them had a lot of sentimental value! The necklace that Nicole wore is actually the diamond from her grandma’s engagement ring and after she passed away in 1988 her aunt had it made it into a necklace. Nicole’s sister, Allison, wore it at her wedding too as her “Something Borrowed”. The handkerchief wrapped around her bouquet was also her grandma’s, she carried it on her wedding day on November 16, 1946, then Nicole’s mom carried it on her wedding day on June 30, 1984, then Allison had it wrapped around her bouquet for her wedding May 19, 2018 and then Nicole had it at her wedding August 29, 2020. How amazing is it that her hanky was used in FOUR weddings and that it’s about 74 years old?! They also did a champagne toast back at her parent’s house after the ceremony and Nicole and Jacob used the toasting glasses that her parents used at their wedding. Allison and Troy used those at their wedding as well! I knew they looked familiar! 🙂

Nicole’s dress was stunning (and she gets to wear it twice! #winning!!) and her shoes were fabulous too! Jacob surprised her with a beautiful diamond & sapphire bracelet and wrote her a sweet letter that she opened before getting dressed and she surprised him with a new watch. They are both so thoughtful! Her jewelry, flowers, hairpiece, and ceremony decor were just perfect! We shot their first look at the park and then some family photos, followed by the ceremony and their first dance inside the gazebo. We can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year! Enjoy your teasers!

In her words…

1. How did he propose? “He took me on a date night around downtown Zionsville which involved walking around the parks, going to the winery, and then ended at the Lincoln Park gazebo where he got down on one knee and said ‘babe this is not a joke’ lol! We then went to the Salty Cowboy with our family to celebrate!”

2. What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite wedding moment was the bride and groom first look because he did actually cry!”

3. What was his favorite wedding moment? “His favorite wedding moment was also the first look because ‘you were pretty’ (his words lol)”

4. What was the funniest wedding moment? “The funniest wedding moment was our unity candles refusing to light and stay lit, oh well!”

5. What was your first dance song? “Our first dance song was ‘From This Moment On’ by Shania Twain”

6. What advice would you give to future couples? “Remember to enjoy the day and savor every moment, it doesn’t matter if things don’t go exactly right or you are running behind because at the end of the day you are marrying your best friend and that is all that matters!”

It’s always an honor when one of your industry friends hires you to photograph their wedding, but this one was extra special for us! Kirsten and I have been friends for several years now, we’ve worked many events together and we share a mutual love for our furbabies so when she told me that Eliott proposed, I was SO excited for her and I KNEW that her wedding would be amazing! Of course, they just happened to get married on International Cat Day, so that was even more perfect for them! 😉 The weather was beautiful last weekend and Kirsten looked STUNNING! Her dress, hair, make-up, flowers – everything was gorgeous! My favorite part was Eliott seeing her in her dress for the first time. His reaction was epic!

They had so many gorgeous details that day…the cake, decor, drapery, flowers, engraved cake knives, sprigs tucked into napkin folds, they thought of everything! To top it off, we had a beautiful sunset after dinner and her dad surprised them with an Antique car for their exit. (It only makes sense to have a cool car at an Andretti wedding, right?!) 😉 We got to work with so many vendor friends that day, it was an awesome wedding! Thanks Kirsten & Eliott for choosing us to capture your special day. Enjoy your teasers!

In her words…

1. How did he propose? “Eliott orchestrated a shopping date with me and my work girls so he could prepare our house for the proposal. They took me out for a few hours and I honestly didn’t think anything of it. The girls took me home and when I entered the door there was a trail of pink rose petals leading into a heart shape where Eliott was standing. When I got to him, I saw our family in the living room and our friends in the kitchen. He got down on one knee and finally proposed after 6 years.”

2. What was your favorite wedding moment? “My favorite moment was the reading of our vows. I knew that was going to be an emotional time but I never imagined it to happen as it did.”

3. What was his favorite wedding moment? “Eliott’s favorite moment was when we were introduced into the reception as man and wife. Coming out and seeing all of our loved ones caused us both to have an out of body experience.”

4. What was the funniest wedding moment? “The Best Man, Hunter’s speech, particularly the part where Hunter disses Eliott saying he used to be ‘Draco if he had been born a Weasley’ due to his long hair when they were younger.”

5. What was your first dance song? “Tiny Dancer” the Ben Folds version

6. What advice would you give to future couples? “The main advice I would give to future couples is to trust your vendors and to be flexible. Things are going to change constantly and you have to be able to prioritize what is truly important and know your vendors are there to make your day happen! Treat everyone with respect and your day will work out exactly as it was meant to!”

This sweet couple had planned an elaborate, elegant wedding that was supposed to take place in downtown Indy last weekend. COVID-19 may have prevented their guests from being able to attend in person but this couple’s love & determination conquered everything and they decided to still get married on their original wedding date, despite the pandemic. It was just us, the couple and the minister (5 people total) in a small chapel with their friends & family watching on Zoom.

It was a very sweet, heartfelt ceremony and we were honored to be able to witness such a beautiful event. Afterwards, we went outside for some photos since it was such a gorgeous day outside and an officer from the Carmel police department drove by and said, “Congratulations!” on his megaphone, it was awesome! We were also able to incorporate some fun and unique pandemic-related props into their photo shoot. Thanks for a fun time Jessica & Jordan! Your wedding will be one that we will certainly never forget! 🙂

1. How did he propose?

Jordan proposed on July 6, 2019 during a back yard bbq that we were having with our families. We had planned this bbq for months and was originally planned so that both of our families could meet and really get to know each other. Near the end of the party Jordan asked everyone to go the back yard to take a family picture of all of us. (We were all inside since it was like 100 degrees that day.) Jordan and I were out to the middle of the yard trying to find a good spot for the picture. I was so busy trying to figure out the perfect picture spot and seeing if there was a neighbor that could take our picture that I had not even realized that our family were all up on the patio and that Jordan was trying to talk to me until he held my hand and got down on one knee. After that all I remember was crying and just saying yes repeatedly.

2. What was your favorite wedding moment?

Honestly my favorite moment was being announced as Mr. & Mrs. Jordan Martin for the first time. It made it all so real and it was kind of like a moment of relief. I say this just because of everything leading up to the day and not being sure if we were even going to be able to get married so many times this last month. I did replan the wedding three times and each time I just became more and more worried that we would not even be able to get married and really have to postpone and wait.

3. What was his favorite wedding moment?

Watching his beautiful soon to be wife walk down the aisle…around the computer stand!!!

4. What was the funniest wedding moment?

I think the funniest moment for me was after the wedding when we were doing our “model poses” and Jordan strutted his stuff. The other funniest moment of the weekend in general though was me trying to cut Jordan’s hair and totally butchering it and crying while trying to fix it. All I have to say is thank God for great friends.

5. What advice would you give to future couples?

Always remember the importance and the real meaning of the day. Don’t let the thought of the big wedding and all the little details of the day get bigger and become more important than the real meaning/outcome of the day. And always make sure that you and your fiance are on the same page about what you really want and how you feel about the day. Jordan and I always talked and made sure we were both in agreement of what was truly important to us for our wedding. (I agree!) 🙂

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding recently at Mill Top and we had so much fun with them that day! I loved all of their details…her dress, shoes, jewelry, custom signs, candy bar, light up centerpieces, cake & macarons! They literally thought of everything! 🙂 I REALLY loved her “book” bouquets though!! Sam found an Etsy shop that makes these adorable bouquets out of pages from various books, it was so awesome!! Sam & Sal are so perfect together and I was so glad that Samantha got an AWESOME sunset that night too, she was really looking forward to some great rooftop sunset photos! The weather was perfect, we got some fantastic shots inside and outside around the venue with them and their wedding party and families, it was a great day all around. Thanks for a fun time you guys!!

1. How did he propose?

Well, our initial engagement was just a conversation. We have been together since 2011 and first moved in together in 2014 until 2016 when we were long distance (Indiana to Pennsylvania) for my first 2 years of medical school, so we’d known for a while that we were going to be together for the long haul. He came to visit me Labor Day weekend 2017 and we were discussing when the best time to get married would be, I wanted to do it before I graduated medical school but after I finished all of my residency interviews so I asked what he thought of March. He said March sounded good and we settled on the first weekend in March of my fourth year. Then I looked at him and asked if this meant we were engaged and he said yes, so we told our families and I thought that was it. Three months later I’m flying back to PA to celebrate Christmas with Sal and his family and when he picks me up from the airport and we walk into his house he tells me that he has a surprise for me and tells me to close my eyes. I’m standing in the middle of his kitchen with my hands over my eyes when I hear him come up behind me and drop to the floor. I get worried, should I open my eyes? Did he fall? Is he ok? He says ok you can look, I turn to see him on one knee with a ring in his hand as he asks “Will you marry me?” My first thought was, “I thought I already was!?” Then I of course say yes, put on the ring, and cry happy tears. To this day he says that I looked more confused than surprised, and that’s most likely because I was.

2. What was your favorite wedding moment?

I think my favorite moment was in our bridal suite between the ceremony and reception. We sat on the couch together, married, holding hands with my head on his shoulder and rested our eyes. It was a moment of peace in an absolutely incredible but so busy day.

3. What was his favorite wedding moment?

He says the “whole ceremony part” is his favorite.

4. What was the funniest wedding moment?

The Pot game and watching both families get incredibly competitive was pretty funny to witness. But also when there was a floss off on the dance floor and my 12 year old nephew showed up my maid of honor’s boyfriend at the floss dance, and then we all tried and failed miserably to learn how to floss.

5. What was your first dance song?

Open Arms by Journey

6. What advice would you give to future couples?

Just roll with it, your day will be absolutely perfect even when it isn’t. And take breaks, it’s a marathon not a sprint. (I agree!) 🙂

We photographed this sweet couple’s wedding reception recently and we had so much fun with them and their families! Nour & Joey actually had a private ceremony in Hawaii and then they came back after their honeymoon and celebrated with family & friends. They are such a cute couple and I LOVED all of their details. Their flowers were stunning, her dress was gorgeous, I loved their cake & cake topper! The weather was SO perfect that day and we got lucky with a beautiful sunset that night too. They surprised everyone with a choreographed first dance as well as Lebanese line dancing and barazik (pistachio sesame cookies), which were perfect for some unique ring shots! Joey is a Baby Yoda fan (so cute!!) and so I promised I’d incorporate his Baby Yoda pin into some cute photos that day. The ring shot turned out to be one of my faves!! LOL Thanks for a fun time you guys! More pics to come!! 🙂

In her words….

1. How did he propose? “We had talked about getting engaged. And we knew we wanted mountains in the background. So our trip to Costa Rica was the perfect setting. One day – February 25th to be exact, we were exploring a rocky area on the beach. Nour was wandering off taking photos, as usual. Joey was fumbling with his backpack. Then, Nour turns around to him chasing after his hat that had blown off. When he gets back, he motions to her to come closer. He sets one knee up on the rock and looks up at her. Joey says a few sweet words. She’s starting to figure out what is going on… ‘I love the hikes we take. I love all the beautiful places we travel to. I love going on adventures together. And I want to go on many more adventures with you. Will you be my adventure partner? Will you marry me?’ He pulls out a box and opens it to show the simple gold ring band with the subtle rectangular stone that they had both looked at online together. She said yes! Then, he put that ring box back in his pocket and said: that is not the right one! Nour wondered what was going on. Joey took out a more brilliant ring from his other pocket – one that was not in the plans – and slid it onto the ring finger of her left hand.”

2. What was your favorite reception moment? “It’s hard to narrow it down to one – it was all so perfect! I loved catching up with everyone – wish we had more time to talk. Our parents’ toasts. Dancing with Joey – and friends/family.”

3. What was his favorite reception moment? “Talking with friends and family.”

4. What was the funniest reception moment? “When his brothers, Alex and Jack, and friend Peter busted out dance moves to Sandstorm – they were in sync without planning it!”

5. What was your first dance song? “I Choose You by Sara Barreilis”

6. What advice would you give to future couples? “Find someone you can be yourself around, you can laugh with, who challenges you. Travel together…you’ll learn a lot about each other on a trip – even if it’s just 2 hours away.” (Great advice!!) 🙂
