July 2008

One of our recent brides (Keri) wants to do a fun, girly, trash the dress session with ALL of her bridesmaids involved too!! How cool is that?! But, we need YOUR HELP! She wants to do something different, but isn’t opposed to getting wet. We’re trying to think of GIRLY & FUN ways that she could trash her dress. She doesn’t want to roll around in paint or change the oil in a car or anything like that though, and she plans to try to sell the dress afterwards, so that does limit what we can do to some extent.

So I thought we’d have a blog reader participation contest and let Keri pick the winner! Email me your ideas at [email protected] by 7/31 and we’ll announce the winner on 8/1. Our winner will receive a $100 gift card to use on any of our services! GOOD LUCK!! 🙂

As most of you know, we tend to book a TON of portrait sessions in the Fall and it gets so booked up very quickly! We have a few spots open in July & August though if anyone out there wants to beat the rush?! 🙂 We have a 4 p.m. opening for this Sunday, and a 3 p.m. & 5 p.m. opening for 8/3. We also have one Saturday open between now and November which is 8/30 so if you’d like to do your session on a Saturday, we’re taking bookings for that date! (A very rare opportunity for you!) 😉 We also have a few openings during the weekday evenings here and there. As it gets closer to Fall, those opportunities start to dwindle since the sun sets much earlier than in the Summer so if you’ve been thinking about doing an engagement, boudoir, maternity, baby, family, pet, senior or trash the dress session, NOW is the time to book it! 🙂

(Pulled this shot from last Fall’s archives) 🙂 Melissa got this shot during an engagement session…that would be me on the left, my hubby in the middle & Jennifer Moon filming on the right. Jennifer & John from Northernlight Filmworks filmed this couple’s love story/engagement session. Isn’t that cool?! 🙂

Some of you may have missed my previous post about this year’s A-List competition so I thought I’d post about it again! 😉 Last year, there were a LOT of photographers competing for the top 5 spots and this year, there’s even MORE…like nearly 100 the last time I counted. So we need your help! We’ve been nominated again this year (thank you, thank you!!!) and everyone is so “neck and neck” in this competition that you can’t tell it from the current standings (unless you’re logged in and voted for us) but we’re ONLY 3% away from the #1 spot! So, if you think our work is fab and want us to be in the top 5 again this year, please GO VOTE today by CLICKING HERE!! 🙂

This week we photographed an AMAZING corporate event for Accent on Indianapolis. They were impressed with our ability to capture vibrant lighting and colors (they saw us at the ISES/PACE awards) and hired us to shoot the set-up shots down at the Marriott downtown before the event actually started! They brought in cool furniture, uplighting, drapery, and even had two Wii stations set up in the room for the attendees!

The food looked phenomenal!!!

The Executive Chef, Michael Vlasich, asked for a few quick head shots for the newspaper. He did an amazing job that evening with his staff and the food presentation. It all looked too pretty to eat! 🙂

They had these glass ice buckets that were lit up as the table centerpieces. Aren’t these awesome!? I shot one with bounced flash…

And one with available light…

Next to the ice sculpture were these adorable little mousse desserts. They were so cute and looked so delicious!

Chocolate + peanut butter = my favorite!! 🙂

GORGEOUS!! Check this out!! They had a circular bar in the center of the room with the DJ staged in the middle of it. How cool is that?! Great lighting and unique ideas really showcase what a great company like Accent on Indianapolis can pull off for their clients!! I was totally impressed!
